Finally took pics of the G with the new camera

So I finally took some pics of the G with my new Canon XSi. All pics were taken with Canon 75-300mm and polarizing filter with a tripod.

As I am new to photograph, any pointers will be appreciated.

Don't take shots near noon. LOL

I did a shoot about that time of day, and it was allllll haze and glare. It took a lot of photoshop work to get it to look halfway decent, even then I wasn't fully pleased.

I would crank the contrast, up the bottom of the levels, bring the middle in a little bit, and up the blue in the sky.

That might help.

Yeah, lesson learned... I thought the polarize filter would take care of it, but guess not.
I am really bad at post pic adjustments. I upped the contrast like you said and messed a bit with RGB (upped blue and green)... I think I made it worse! LoL! What did you mean by up the bottom of the levels, bring the middle in a little bit? And how do I up the blue in the sky? When I upped the blus in RGB, it didn't really make the sky any bluer. The more blue I added, the more my car went from black to blue.

Thanks,

Peter

Are you using photoshop?

There are so many tricks that if I tried to tell you all that I did to that pic about your head might explode. LOL

I have photoshop but try to avoid it since I suck at it. I was trying to make simple adjustments via Canon zoombrowser... LoL!
Is there a simple way to make the ground darker and the sky bluer with color/RBG adjustments (nothing crazy, just a hint of enhancement perhapses)?

Thanks,

Peter

Learn photoshop. It's your best friend. Old school photographers used the darkroom to make their edits and processing tricks, the modern day digital photographer has to do this using photoshop.

I did a lot of stuff using layers and erasing selected parts.

Hit up youtube.com and search for "basic photoshop techniques." You can spend hours learning stuff that other people can explain WAAAY better than I can.

Essentially what I did with yours was (in several different layers):

Levels
Contrast
selective saturation (cyans)
selective color adjustment (cyans and blues)
layers and then overlay, linear burn, screen etc.

Linear or color burn on a layer is what gives the ground and sky that look.

Thanks man! I just made some minor RBG curve adjustments via Canon Digital Photo Professional. I think it made the ground and the car a bit darker and the sky a bit more blue. Check the original pics with the updated changes.
