McCain, Enron, and Energy Speculation
Found this pretty interesting. Discuss. Quick Summary: Enron lobbied the gov't for deregulation of commodities trading; essentially creating the Enron Loophole and the massive rise in the price of gas we see today due to speculators. In 2002, McCain and other Republicans acknowledged and argued for closing the loophole. The Farm Bill that was recently passed by Congress, despite a Bush veto, removes the Enron loophole. McCain fought against it and instead is pushing for alternative energy markets.

I was watching O'Reilly last night, and he played a snippet from Ben Stein. Stein was talking about a meeting or something he was at with a bunch of speculators/special intrest groups, and how they were laughing about all the money they were making at our expense!

If no one has noticed, the special interests have already crafted the GOP issues platform for the upcoming election.
Issue #1: -Drill offshore Issue #2: -Drill ANWR Issue #3: -Oil sands and oil shale????? Issue #4: -Drill where no man has drilled before! Issue #5: -Americans will get cheap oil IF we find anything. Oh BTW, we promise not to fux0r the environment, but if we do, we will handle it like we did the Valdez incident. :P Did I mention that residents in Alaska are still suing Exxon/Mobil over that? Now for a glimpse of oil company issues for 2012... Issue #1: -Oil companies don't want to clean up their operations at Prudhoe Bay when that field is fully shutdown. Our plan is for the Federal government and the taxpayers to fund the environmental cleanup once they find out all the crap we've been hiding from them. LOL!?

As for speculators.... They do their jobs very well. There are speculators for all types of commodities. So why point a lens on oil speculators only? Because the media is looking for scapegoats to justify political posturing by the oil lobby and the GOP? It would be more beneficial to get at the real truth. Our money is worthless and OPEC is simply collecting what their due after we went on a monopoly money printing binge to pay for the Iraq boondoggle a.k.a. W's legacy.
