Customs seizing laptops without probable cause
Apparently, US Customs can seize electronic devices from travellers entering the US and keep them for several weeks while they search the contents. They don't need a warrant or probable cause. They can just take your laptop, cell phone, or other device any time they want. I had no idea they had this power. I knew they could perform inspections, but confiscation without reason? That's just not right.
Laptop seizures at customs raise outcry

Well that sucks.
This is a good reason to keep anything important on a removable drive. I keep my laptop squeeky clean anyhow, I would hate to take it to work and have one of Cru's art films pop up. |

Yeah, that is rediculous. What would you do if you had presentations or something at work? You would be screwed.
