Why would Gore take a pay cut, Isn't he striking it big with his eco-green crap?
For McCain I'm liking Bobby Jindal from Louisiana, simply because I think he supports the FairTax but I've been unable to verify that. But I think the word is it ain't him. Romney seems to be getting a lot of publicity though...

I don't think McCain will pick Gov Jindal because it would be hard for him to bolster his "experience" credentials, and it would also make attacking Obama as being a closet Muslim, foreign, and unAmerican more difficult for the radical right. Romney also seems like a long shot because the religious right can't bring themselves to vote on issues instead of what a person's faith is, I am a Christian and I have a deep belief in God and I quite frankly find it disturbing that a large demographic of Americans would ignore all of the most pertinent issues only to vote on the basis of who comes to their church, proves their Christianity, or panders to their sensibilities, I believe that a persons faith may influence how they lead but I also believe there should be a more fine and distinct line between church and state so that something as trivial as a persons religion or denomination wouldn't be a large campaign issue. |

I know what you mean, some people will get hung up on one issue that they do not like about a candidate and that will keep them from voting for them, and in some cases they will just say to hell with it and not vote. This lets everyone else make the decision for you. Or they will vote for some snowball (chance in hell..) candidate, Barr, Nader... just to not vote for the guy they have the most in common with because of said issue. sorry I'm rambling...

I think when it's all said and done it all boils down to Americans not paying attention to the world around them and our collective distrust of individuals that may not be raised or look the same way as the "average American". I'm a democrat so I disagree with some issues the republicans raise but I can't stand when people discount another person's views because of their ethnicity or religious values, I can tell that you are a conservative and while I may not agree with some of your parties standard bearers, I believe that there stances on issues or legitimacy of candidacy should not be marginalized by how different their background may be. On another forum a guy from Louisiana told me that Gov. Jindal didn't win his local election the first time around because he wasn't "Louisiana enough" This is the crap that gives America a bad name throughout the world, I can respect another persons point of view on issues but that is what our elections need to be about, maybe that's wishful thinking though, both parties are guilty of that nonsense and we as a nation really need to grow beyond such halfway bigotry. |

I'm a registered republican but I disagree with most of what BOTH parties have done lately! Bush has yet to meet a spending bill he doesn't like. Republican's once stood for small government but that time I guess is gone. I hope you weren't implying that that any dislike I have for Obama is because of his background? Trust me when I say there is enough of his political views I dislike that anything else is trivial.

No of coarse not, I'm not saying you dislike Obama because of his background. I'm stating that there are reservations to some on the religious right that dislike Romney and the radical right that dislike Jindal because of reasons that have nothing to do with policy, those are the same people that are likely to dislike Obama because of his background. I apologize if I in any way made it seem like you were prejudiced, that was not my intent. I believe that you're right in the sense that there are alot of differences in policy that can be used to support one politician over another. What I have a problem with is the people that vote on the basis of everything else except what their candidates stand for ie. race, religion, bowling scores, what kind of beer they drink, etc... I believe that kind of voting is the weakness in our representative democracy, I wish there were a ten question test that voters had to pass in order for there vote to count, that way it cuts down on people voting at face value or for some other really retarded reason. |
