What she says is one thing - actually having a plan to accomplish anything is something else entirely.

All I've seen from Palin since she landed in the public eye is a lot of tough talk, a few winks, nice legs, and nice cans.

That she bailed on her state obviously means nothing to you. Does to me. If she can't withstand a little scrutiny she'll never survive Washington.

So did Reagan. So do ALL politicians. For me, it's the delivery that makes the words their own. Reagan did it. Kennedy did it. Obama also does it at times, but I think he spends too much time on the podium to be taken seriously or be memorable at this point.

I can tell you what Obama stands for:

Higher taxes

Socialized medicine

National Police force.

Increased spending to no end.


Palin can and would be a excellent President. It's her beliefs and will to implement them is what her opponents fear.


Lower taxes

Support for private industry and medicine.

Increased domestic drilling.

Cut federal spending..


The contrast can be no clearer.

People should not always trust smooth talkers... folks want ideas..and action. Americans want straight talk. Plain talk.... Not diplomatic nuance speak.....

Flowery speakers alone do not work. Reagan had the gift of both truth and communication. Palin's gift is straight and simple truth.

I think there's a slight difference in parroting and understanding what they are stating and parroting because you can't come up with anything yourself.

Maybe all politicans don't. I don't know. I just get the distinct feeling Palin couldn't hold a debate with Katy Couric. Wait, she couldn't.

Obama wanted to let the Bush tax cuts to expire and still does.
To this day Gulf drilling has not been approved at the level it once was,
and it is at a crawl with Federal contracts at a low point.

“We have barely 60 inspectors to cover 3,000-plus facilities in the Gulf of Mexico,” Bromwich has said. “If it weren’t so troubling, it would be laughable.”

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) has been quick to point out the hypocrisy of Bromwich’s new push for regulatory expansion.

“Expanding the reach of your agency while simultaneously claiming you are ‘understaffed’ is nothing short of confusing,” Vitter wrote in a May 3 letter to Bromwich, asking the agency director to identify what staff he intends to direct away from their current responsibilities.

But neither Vitter nor his staff are holding their breath for an answer.

“We rarely hear back from him,” Vitter’s spokesman Luke Bolar said. “I think the last time we’ve actually heard from him was when he came in and had a face-to-face with the senator [in February].”

In the meantime, Vitter has placed a hold on a key Interior Department nominee until the agency issues at least 15 deepwater drilling permits. Since February, when Vitter placed the hold, BOEMRE has issued 12 permits. Prior to February, the agency had issued zero.

“This is nowhere near where they ought to be, but it’s more than zero” Bolar said. “Sen. Vitter definitely won’t stop [addressing this issue] when they get to 15, but he will release the hold.”

The push for more permits received a separate boost this week from a federal judge in New Orleans. In a case against the federal government by the Louisiana-based drilling company Ensco Offshore, federal judge Martin Feldman ordered Bromwich’s regulators to act on six pending drilling permit applications filed by companies that have contracts with Ensco.

JUNEAU -- The recession still lingering across much of the nation has not put much of a dent in Alaska's economy.




State labor economist Neal Fried told the Juneau Empire that Alaska is the envy of much of the country with an unemployment rate that dropped to 7.7 percent in July -- nearly two points below the national rate of 9.5 percent.

Alaska's boom-and-bust economy typically posts much higher unemployment rates than the national economy, Fried said.

"This is the first time we've ever seen a (year) of the unemployment rate coming in below the national average," he said.

Fried says many of Alaska's industries have been largely immune to the recession, which has hit the manufacturing and construction sectors hardest.
