You're Married. Ok to take off Ring when you go out???

i'm just curious as to what my fellow members think of this ritual or practice, if you will.

Scenario:

You're married, man or woman, and when you go out or go out of town, you remove the ring. for girls this garners attention, free drinks, a hope on the guy's part that maybe there will be more fun after the bar, club, etc.

for the guy, he wants to feel young, uninhibited and more apporachable. maybe get laid.

so, drivers, is this a huge offense? no big deal? how bad on a scale of 1-10 is it?

let's say the married man or woman doesn't necessarily have intentions of "cheating," just sans the ring.

This would not fly with my wife. No reason to take the ring off (unless I'm doing work on the car/house where it would possibly get damaged).

i'm not married but if i was, i wouldn't have a reason to take it off, esp if i'm going out w/ the boys or whatnot. unless for the reasons Marcus listed.

IMO if your gonna get laid your gonna get laid no matter if u have a wedding ring on or not.... I would not take it off if i was married(that will be a looooooooong time away). If my wife took it off it would be a red flag and an insult to me and would possibly lead to a devorce.

Why get married anyway??

true about the 'if you're gonna get laid it'll happen no matter' comment.

if i found out my future wife did this, it would be very close to a deal breaker. it's a total insult to me and quite dishonest altogether.

I was married. I always kept my ring on...oops. I shouldn't say that. I did take my ring off (And not often at all) once when changing my daughter's diaper. I was actually with my waife and we had stopped at her best friends house. I am not sure why (well, if you had changed diapers, you would know why) I too my ring off, but about an hour later, I realized I did not have my ring and I felt very uncomfortable afterwards.

I had to go and buy a second wedding ring (with my wife).

Later, being newly single again, I have thought quite the opposite of the question. I have thought to put the ring back on to gain more attention from the ladies.

Guys might see a lady with a wedding ring and back off, but I think ladies are more apt to be interested. I mean, some other chick seems to want this guy. Let me see what he's got.

As you mentioned, I would be pissed if my wife wanted to take off her ring. If she did some kind of work that she thought the ring was too fancy for, she should have a second ring that is just a band.

Dave

Only time I knowingly leave the ring at home is when I am taking the motorcycle out for a day of twistys. Damn thing is annoying inside those riding gloves. Other than that, no reason not to wear it.

yeah, if the wedding ring is like 3 carats or something, maybe switch it out for just the band when you go out but to ditch it completely, you shouldn't be married in the first place, in my book.

i just asked my coworker the question and she laughed at me (meaning, 'of course i'd take it off! it's vegas!) :/

IMO, the only excusable reason is work... whether it's sales/marketing, or working on machinery.

either we have a lot of honest men on driver or ya'll are faking the funk (bc your wives or gfs lurk) haha jk

so far the only people who say it's ok to do this behind the significant other's back are 2 married girls and one single girl i know after a quick consensus.
