It's ok to set the performance of the 911 as a goal, but price-wise, Nissan should pit it against the M3. If they charge over $60k for it, then most folks will get the M3 or even the ZO6 or the RS4. Personally, I don't think 450 hp and AWD is enough to justify a $30k premium over a G35C. It's like the $50k Volkswagon Phanteon, nobody buys it. Offer supercar performance at a reasonable price and they'll have a winner. This is a new arena for Nissan. They have never sold a sports car of that price in the US. $70-80k will put this car out of reach for most people and most people who could afford a $70 car won't buy a Nissan or Infiniti sports car. Sports cars in that price range like the Viper, NSX, etc are novelties and not mainstream sports cars like the M3 or Corvette. The main reason is price. If they expect this to be a car for the masses and make lots-o-money, then sell it at $55 to $60k. |

This car is not meant for the masses by far... a flagship yes! Also since when is a M3 a mainstream car? Last time I checked when it's all said and done that car was pushing cost to the 60k mark!

Dude, the M3 IS a mainstream car. That means they will make as many as they can sell. BMW sells thousands a year at $60k. The NSX has quantity restrictions per year. Also, The Q should remain Infiniti's flagship no matter what. Infiniti is a luxury brand, so its best foot forward shouldn't be a sports car.

Agree 100%. I don't think they will sell well competing directly (as in, par pricing) with an M3. It's like what Lexus is trying to do now with their IS series - pricing on par with BMW has proven to be a mistake for many auto makers. If you want to steal sales in the ~$50-65k region, you need to offer a car that is as good as (or close to) an M3, but costs less. Same with the Z06. @75k people are going to buy those, not GT-R's.
