King of Cakes

Rum Cake:

Trust me, this cake is probably the best cake I've ever tasted. Okay, tiramisu is better but those are ladyfingers, and that doesn't count.

What you need:

1 Box of Yellow Cake Mix (or you can make a scratch cake)
1 Pkg. of Instant Vanilla Pudding (Jello works well)
4 Eggs
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup veggie oil
1/2 cup of rum (dark or light works. I prefer light)

Preheat oven to 350 deg. F. Mix all cake ingredients together. Find a bundt pan and make sure it is greased with crisco or butter to keep cake from sticking. Place nuts in the bundt pan and pour batter over nuts. If you made the recipe without nuts, then just pour the batter directly into the bundt pan. Bake for an hour and, when finished, cool inverted.

Glaze

What you need:

1/4 lb butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup rum

Prick the top of your cooled cake with toothpicks or a fork. This will help the cake soak up the glaze like a sponge. Melt your butter, then add sugar. Slowly add the rum and stir constantly to create a nice glaze like you'd see on a donut. When it gets to the right consistency, slowly pour over cake and smooth out the sides as you go along. If you did it right, every bite should have the sweet, rummy goodness.

I can guarantee you that if you don't pay attention to how much you're eating, you will wind up eating half of the cake by yourself. It is that good. Even people that don't like rum will like this. This is the perfect entertaining cake.
