Last night's dinner, Braised Pork side w/ garlic soy sauce (different take on Pork Adobo)
1 lb Pork side cut into about an inch and half cubes(looks like uncured & uncut bacon) 3 cloves of garlic 6 oz of Banana hearts 5-10 pepper corns 2 bay leaves 1 cup of cocout vinegar 1 cup of dark soy 1 large pinch of brown sugar 1 lb sitaw (chinese long green beans) 2 tablespoons of oil 1/2 cup of water salt & pepper to taste sprinkle salt & pepper on all sides of pork cubes. brown on all sides the pork with oil, make sure not to over crowd the pan so you get a good browning. place browned pork on the side on a plate. crush garlic and fry in pork drippings till slightly brown and tender. remove garlic and place on the side. sautee green beans till slightly tender and place on the side. place pan on med high and throw peppercorns, bayleaves, garlic, soysauce, brown sugar, and vinegar in. bring to a boil and throw the pork back in with banana hearts. move around pork to get liquid mixture evenly incorporated all over the pork. throw water in and bring down heat to medium and cover for about 20 mins. throw in green beans and leave covered for 5 mins. serve over white calrose or short grain sticky rice. enjoy!
