RE Shifter Review

this shifter is SOLID! when i compared the stock with the RE, the only diff i noticed was that the RE was a bit heavier and longer on the lower end where it connects under the car. Install was easy, the hardest part was getting the rubber boot fitted back under the car (not that hard). install took 40 min taking my sweet time occasionally going inside for the hell of it. While just sitting in the car and going between gears the difference didnt seem taht noticable, however when i took it out i was suprisingly shocked at the difference. 1st-2nd is absolutly nothing of a throw along with all the other gears. No vibration as of yet and no noise. Anyone looking for a shifter, or likes short throws this is absolutly the one to get!

Hell yeah I love my RE shifter too!

Doesn't it feel like the car should've came like that from the factory?

you won't be sorry. installation is a breeze too. they include a great writeup with the shifter itself.

My advice, go to your local nissan dealership and purchase the plastic shift cup for the shifter. It's not that much money and it will save you having to pull the old one off the old shifter and put it on the new one. Oh, get litium grease too. do a search and you'll see what i mean.

Congrats!

Man, mine came in the mail today but I'm hesitant to install it. I also have the THX-SS shift knob (uninstalled). I hear it's a pain to use both at the same time, as it makes the shifting tough and super notchy.

Does anyone have a good experience installing both a small shift knob and the RE short shifter together?

i know some people have. I just went with the stock one to see how it feels and decided later if i want to get an aftermarket one. I'm pretty happy with it so I'm going to keep it. Plus it adds to the "sleeper" feeling of looking stock and having something more underneith.

I have both. I never used the short shifter when the OEM knob...so I can't compare the two. The problem I do have is shifting from 1st-2nd at redline. With the stock shifter, I never missed a gear. After the RE shifter, it's hard to get it in 2nd (only at redline). It seems as there's a notch between the gates and the shifter always gets stuck on it. This usually only happens at the drag strip...but I have noticed that since I took about 10 seconds or so of having the car in nuetral and shifting from 1st-2nd to "lube" it up, the problem has not happend since.

I would think notchier, but am interested in some first hand accounts.

Oh, and someone should tell them that "Infiniti" is spelled with an "i" at the end... good thing BMW is so much easier to spell.

same thing happened to me a few times when i redlined in 1st. I used to think its b/c i shifted too fast, but now hearing you have the same problem, it might be the Rogue. otherwise i have no issues with it. I am thinking of switching back to OEM just to see the difference, I dont really remember how the OEM felt, since a month after i got the car i installed Rogue.
