Project Mu Pads, Stoptech SS Lines - Installed
Love the project Mu pads with the Stoptech ss lines! That's not to say that it feels like a BBK was just installed, but rather that this combo provided just what I wanted without any problems and negative changes.
I felt the OEM '05 system needed just a bit more bite and a bit more firmness in the pedal. That's exactly what I got. I haven't been able to truly test them with any hard deceleration yet, but driving around town they inspire more confidence and feel just like what you would expect the G to have in terms of braking performance. My OEM pads were still fresh, so it's a good comparison. They difference over worn pads and older rubber lines should be significant.
Mechanic did as suggested and coated all necessary surfaces with the anti-squell grease. Haven't heard a peep from the pads at all so far. Went with Nissan fluid, due to ease of availability and the desire to keep the fluids OEM for a while longer.
For those looking to add just a bit more competence to the OEM brakes, without the need/desire to step up to a complete track-worthy BBK or Brembo swap, these two small changes to the OEM system should give you just what you're looking for.

Not at all grabby... ...although I haven't gotten them really hot yet with a heavy workout. Differences I noticed (and was looking for) were a slightly more firm pedal and a noticeable (but not overly pronounced) increase in initial bite, followed by slightly better braking. Essentially, it took the OEM system up a notch or two... ...which I felt was needed to bring the brakes up to the competence level of the rest of car.
The change is likely close to what you would feel if you replaced really worn pads with new ones and bled a good deal of air from the system. But keep in mind, my OEM brakes were in top form, so the improvement seen is definately over the OEM system.
Adding bigger rotors probably would have taken my new performace up another couple of notches, but that was more than I felt was needed for the street... ...around here, at least.
