MREV2 Impressions

Here's my quick MREV2 impressions. Before I begin, I'll start off with my mods.

2006 G35 Coupe 6MT (revup): Stillen Intake, 5/16 MD Spacer, Fast Intentions Resonated Test Pipes, Fast Intentions Exhaust, and finally the MREV2.

The first thing I noticed during startup was the rough start; it just didn't sound right... almost baffled. And the steering wheel was shacking alot more than normal, though the revs climbed down as normal to my set idle of 850 RPM. I thought to myself...dammit, I must have missed a line or something. But everything checked out to be ok.

Idle seemed normal after I turned the car back on again. When I revved it a bit, I also noticed that I lost some of the backfire I had before.

1st WOT: Going up a slight on-ramp inclined slope which I always use when testing out a mod, I didn't feel a thing.

All of this MREV2 talk for years and this is it? It must be the ECU trying to adjust itself!

2nd WOT: Also going up a slight inclined slope, I thought it felt a little stronger at 5K +/- 1k.

3rd WOT: Hmmmmm...it feels like its getting stronger after every WOT. Not bad

4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th WOT: The car definately feels stronger from 4200 to 6000 RPM! I decided to cruise at 4800 RPM in 2nd gear (and 3rd), and floor it, and I haven't been tossed back on the seat like that on my G before! My butt-dyno has always been tuned to be very skeptical but this mod passed the test.

(All of my WOT runs were conducted in 2nd gear starting from 2800 RPM to 3rd gear redline).

Another thing I noticed was the fact that the car was much more responsive when I went WOT at mid & high RPM's. But I had also cleaned out the air filter which I hadn't done for over 15,000 miles. So im not so sure if that extra responsiveness was due to the MREV2 or not.

Now, going back to first few points I stated before: The car felt alot more normal after all those WOT. I got my typical backfire back from the exhaust when revving it just a little bit. And startup felt completely normal. The exhaust also got a little deeper (but not louder). Which reassured me the ECU had to do some adjustments before it let me have my fun .

Overall, im pleased with the MREV2 so far. I've only had about 2 hours of testing it out thus far. So I might have more input in a few days from now.

I'll be getting the car dyno'd in a few weeks and tuned in about a month. I'll be sure to post the dyno up when the time comes. (I've always dyno'd my car at Shawn's place for consistency).

PS. Thanks Wally

-Henry

I know. I'm just glad Henry was patient and waited for me to get the car back.

Awesome man. My spacer and MREV2 have been sitting on my backyard for like a year now...no time and tools to install it...!!!

By the way, do we have dyno plot to compare the gain between stock and MREV2 somewhere in here?

You've had the MREV2 and spacer kickin it in your backyard for a year?
Damn dude. Get that stuff installed! Your missing out on the best bolton available to G35.

Installation is easy.

And yes to the dynos. All the dynos on the MD web page all originated from the forums.
