Alphawerks headers installed: driving impressions

Picked up the Alphawerks headers from Avalon Racing--had them in 2 days!

Had them installed two nights ago. A nissan tech did them in 3 hours flat--it wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought. He said that the Alphawerks were the easiest he has installed because they make the holes where the bolts go large enough to give some play. On Nismo and Borla headers he had to drill out the holes which took a long time.

I now have K&N panel, Z tube, Alphawerks headers, spacer, stillen dual catback.

Impressions:

The sound of the car is a bit raspier, as expected from headers. It "sounds fast".

Last time I wrote about the spacer and catback I mentioned that after gaining traction in 1st gear at WOT, the wheels started to spin again at around 4k rpm. Now, when I hit 3-4k rpm with traction, the wheels start to spin uncontrollably! If I kept on the gas I think they would spin all the way through 1st. This was done on the exact same road as the first test.

Overall, these headers really kick butt! The power increase is undeniable.

I intend on getting the car tuned on the dyno next with re-flash. At that time I can post the dynos from stock--->spacer+catback--->+headers---->+ Altered Atmosphere reflash and tune.

I think the power will be even better after the re-tune because my car runs really lean and could definately use some more fuel.

Even with your set up, which is with stock stock Cat, its still leaning up? Im thinking to go with header first skip the HF cats now. Since i have ztube, k&n, 1/2" spacer, fuji exhaust...and i want i abit more power without ECU tune... money issue and also there arent any reflash tuners near by in MA

The car ran lean from the beginning. With all of the mods listed it ran a tad bit leaner, but nothing major.

The tune really is to fix the stock A/F ratio, not to fix a change caused by the installation of the mods.

You are fine staying with the stock A/F maps with these mods--you're just likely missing out on some power by adding a bit of fuel.
