Time for a change...Altima renovation thread
Well, I'm been getting really bored with my car. It's been the same look for almost 3 years now. So I decided that it's time to change the theme. First things first. Changing up the wheels. Picked up a set of these D-Powered Wheels from one of the site members for a pretty good price. They were heavily curb rashed and a lot of oxidation on them, so I have to refinish them. So far, I went and got most of the materials I need.
Here are the wheels conditions at first
heavy oxidation and curbage
After some sanding and grinding over the past to days, got it pretty clean but heavily scuffed up
And check out the weight
Went today to get the Primer, Clear coat, and a custom paint for the wheels. Went to Kearny Mesa Paint on Clairemont mesa blvd (thanks to Kid_da on SDrev's forums for the advise) and got my medium Aluminum Metallic Cold custom mixture.
Hopefully later this week I will have them sand blasted, and i can start painting them. I hope to have tires by next week so i can install them and start driving. Then it's on to the next step in my new look on the car's paint scheme
Went to sand blast the wheels. After doing so, i noticed that there was a layer of clear, a layer of paint, and a layer of black primer before you get to the metal. I only blasted down to the primer or to remove the clear so I can manually sand some of the wheel to get it to let the new primer stick. Pics below
Blasted vs unblasted
self portrait....Kinda
Got the wheels home,First i wiped down all the wheels with Acetone to remove any chemical debris that may still be on them so it has a clean surface, and time to put the first layer of grey primer on the wheels. I'm doing Grey as the first coat of primer, and then Black primer on top of the grey. I think the gold will look better with black as the base below it

^what do you mean what did I use to get the color on? You mean how did i get that color, or how I got it applied to the wheels?
I need 45 series tires though. I don't like the gap. But wow, my car accelerates quite a bit faster now. the weight of the 20s w/tires vs the 18s with tires was only 5lbs, but it made a difference
