Window Tint Ticket
I was on the way to Atlanta and got pulled over for speeding while I was passing a transport truck...like really? This guy was a jerk. Anyway 84 in a 70. $207 ticket. Then he says "you windows look a little dark." It was a cloudy day and kind of misty out. I bought my car in Florida where there is no tint limit, however, in Alabama the limit is 32%. I have a 06 black G35 coupe. he scans the little back window and whatdayaknow! 32% Then i guess he was just determined to give me another ticket, he reaches in my car to scan the rear window..and it comes up 26.7 or something. then I asked him to do it again because I thought he scanned the thermal thing as well...goes up to 28.9%. Anyway he says it's still too dark and gives me another ticket for $207. However, I got to researching and on this website http://www.legislature.state.al.us/C...975/coatoc.htm Title 32 is the motor vehicle section. Section 5C is window tinting. then 32-5C-7 is penalties. which states:
"A person who violates this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and for a first conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars ($100), or by imprisonment for not more than 10 days, or by both fine and imprisonment; for a second conviction for an offense committed within one year after the date of the first offense, the person shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars ($200), or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days"
This is the first time I've ever been pulled over. Is it just me or do you think I was way over-charged?
any input is great

Oh and BTW, FL absolutely DOES have a limit, both on the front AND BACK windows (although the limit on the back windows is VERY dark)
I got a ticket a few months ago and it was $110 or fix it for a $10 processing fee. (My tint was 16% BTW)
I opted to tear the tint off, pay the $10, and then go have it retinted with the exact same tint.
Sure it was roundabout and stupid. But it was cheaper than the ticket!
