they already had a good winning record WITHOUT Gasol. He just made the team better and getting the wins easier instead of struggling all the time.

Baaahahaaa, you are funny. First off, Kobe has deserved to win the MVP in the past. This should be his second or third by now, not his first. Secondly, Gasol simply solidified the Lakers and pushed them to the top of the Western Conference as opposed to being one of the teams at the top. And lastly, don't forget that you guys had to go out and get KG and Ray Allen to make it to the Finals. Don't forget that before this year, for the last decade or so, the Celtics have been a joke in the pathetic Eastern Conference. To be one of the worst teams in the East means you are really bad. So it's not like Boston has been there all along. The Lakers did exactly what Boston did. They brought in help for Paul Pierce and the Lakers brought in help for Kobe. You guys better hope that KG doesn't start having flashbacks of what it was like to play in the West.

Name me one NBA player in history who has ever won the MVP award without having a big second number #2 player. One player can't make their entire team a great team without having potential talent.

Besides, the Lakers had 1st place in their conference at a point before Bynum went down (and before the Gasol trade).
