Seriously, what is with these Olympic events?

Synchronized diving? Really? How is this even remotely a sport? Synchronized swimming was GAY ENOUGH. What event will they synchronize next?

I thought the synchronized diving was interesting. It's not like it's a new event or anything. However, I hate how some of the events that require scores from judges seem to favor certain countries year after year. The Chinese divers were getting 9.5s and 10s when they were just as out of sync as the Russians and Americans.

It's just as difficult as regular diving. Why all the hate? It's an Olympic sport, which is why your seeing it.....in.....you guessed it.....the Olympics.

No one questions the difficulty. It's just gotten so ridiculous with making events up for the sake of making events up.

I can't see the point of sports whereby the result is determined by opinion, rather than a quantifiable 'thing'. For example, syncronised swimming is judged by a panel, so what is good to one, may be pantaloons to another, but soccer, tennis, hurdles, etc, all have a definite result. fastest time, most goals, etc.

I'm not a fan of the olympics though. I'm not sure why I should suddenly be interested in sports where i have utterly no interest any other time of the year. The shotput, diving, etc, all hold no fascination, yet for some reason people get all excited about it, whilst not bothering the rest of the time. It;s weird.

A ref is just like a judge on a panel. On what they let go or call could have an impact on total score. ex (Soccer and Basketball)

Not at all. A ref should have no bearing on who wins, or loses. The teams determine who wins. In the silly sports, (are they more art, than sport?), the judges say who wins.
