Solution for throttle response problem?

Hi all,

I have an 07 6mt, and like many it has the throtle response issues, ie not smooth, often hesitates, and my dealer keeps telling me they have no ecu flash for the 6mt models.

Anyway, i was washing the car this weekend and decided to pull the mufflers off, as i've done it briefly before to see how it sounds. Been driving the car without them for the past 2 days and i've noticed that the throttle response is much improved, its quick to respond and has very little hesitation issues. I wonder if remvoing a bit of back pressure helped things out. Also the car sounds really quite good, as if there was an after market exhaust on the car.

Just thought I'd share

There is a new gizmo in the current issue of Turbo Magazine. It is a "throttle response corrector". Give it a look see.

There's a TSB for it, you should be able to search for it.

OK just checked its ITB07-045(surpasses 028), its mainly designated for throttle fluctuations during cold temp, but trust me with this update the throttle is improved a lot throughout even after eaching regular temps, hope it helps.

I also have a 6MT and agree with koolyaar that ITB045 makes the throttle response somewhat smoother.

I like get up and go... smoother like a doggish increase before it hits or just more linear in power?

Good question. I did not make clear that after ITB 045 reflash the 6MT didn't lose the get up and go. Before I purchased my 6MT I had read about the hesitation problem with the throttle but found that it was a matter of where your foot set on the accelerator pedal.

The G accelerator pedal is hinged at the top and thus requires your foot to be either flat on the pedal or, if you toe the pedal, to toe the pedal at the top. Otherwise there is a delay because of the lack of leverage if you toe the pedal at the bottom or middle.

So, yes, more linear.

Its not a "recall" its a TSB (technical service bulletin), its not required by law for the dealers to perform these services unlike Recalls. They are only to perform these services when your car show s signs of such behaviour as cited in the TSB, in this case you tell them that you are experiencing flactuation in RPM when cold and you want them to apply TSB045 and you should be ok.
