Aftermarket Nav? Factory ipod integration?

Ok so here's the deal...I'm still deciding between '08 and '09 and my question is this...

Has anyone installed an aftermarket headunit with nav? Something like a Kenwood DNX 8120 (I just installed that in my new '08 Accord Coupe)?

Also, with the factory ipod integration in the factory nav, can you control it with the steering wheel controls? Does it display all the ipod stuff on the screen?

Thanks,
Jason

with factory head unit, with either the Prem. pckg or Nav pckg, it'll display the Ipod information on the screen and can be controlled by the steering wheel inputs.

No one that I know of has installed an aftmkt HU into an 07 pr 08 sedan. I'd love to know about it because I love the newer Kenwood NAV units but at this time, the factory system appears to be too integrated with the a/c controls, ipod controls and system controls.

yeah, haven't seen anyone change the headunit completely, but if you want an aftermarket nav that integrates to the existing display, search for garmin gvn

Ok thanks guys. Yeah I have a Kenwood DNX 7100 in my custom 2002 Dakota and a DNX 8120 in my new 2008 Accord EX-L V-6 Coupe. I'm just wondering if I should stick with the factory nav on the G35/37 but it sounds like the ipod gets displayed on the screen and can be controlled on the steering wheel so that's cool!

The integrated ipod function on the car is very cool. At first, I didn't think it'd be all that big of a deal but now that I'm used to it, it's very very nice how it works. Only complaint is that I wish it scrolled a little faster through the artist names, down the menu. Other than that, it's pretty sweet.

All in all, the ipod integration is awesome. The only thing it lacks is the acceleration when turning the wheel. On the ipod itself, if you turn the wheel fast, after a short time it speeds up the scroll and you can get around the playlist pretty quickly. The wheel on the Infiniti doesn't cause this to happen, so if you have a few thousand songs to scroll through you're going to get tired of scrolling.

As far as Nav, if I had it to do over again I'd get the Nav package. I decided against it was was going to go aftermarket (using the stock screen). Now I'd prefer to have gone with the package so I could also get the back up camera. There is something about the rear view that makes it difficult to judge where the rear bumper is.

silly question, but.....
We seem to use "ipod" in a generic way.

Is the interface ipod specific or do other brands integrate as well?
