Tire Balance and Rotation?
I used the search function, but couldn't find the "exact" answer I was looking for.
My 08 G35 Sedan Auto with Tire/ 18in Wheel Package is at 8k miles and was wondering if the "dealer recommended" tire rotation and balance for around $150 was worth it or a total rip off? (Was considering waiting until 15k hehe.. I don't like dealers ripping me off. Read a few threads about overpriced maintenance.) I've had the car for eight months and I'm kind of new to owning a "entry level Semi.. luxury sedan". I had a 2001 nissan maxima before and did the rotations and alignments, but forgot what I paid. Also, I never serviced the car at dealerships, but took the Max to mom and pop shops. So, is the tire rotation and balance really necessary at 7500? 8k? or can I just wait till 15k. (I'm on the stock cr** tires anyways.) Any advice besides "use the search" would be much appreciated. Have a good day all. ![]() |

$150 Sounds like a rip off to me. I don't get my rotations and balancing done at the dealership. Personally, I'd go head and get the tires rotated at 7500. At least take a good look at them. I'm a big believer in tire maintenance if you can do it. Probably not necessary but worth your time I think.

I have the G35S Sedan with 18 inch wheels. I assume they are the same as your wheels. Those wheels/tires are not suppose to be rotated as they are of a staggered fitment. ... On balancing, I get my tires balanced very frequently because my Goodyears require it. ... And as stated above, $150 for a rotation/balance is a rip off.

I honestly have never had my tires re-balanced after the initial mounting. They just do not last that long and the balance seemed fine for the life of the tire.

$150 for tire rotation and balance is expensive. Recommending that you rotate tires when it is not necessary - and actually not possible - is unconscionable. WTF is wrong with these Infiniti dealers?
I would ask them what specifically they are going to do for $150. If they indicate they are rotating tires front to back, I'd ask them why they would do that when the manual indicates this should not be done w/ the 18" wheel package and also, the fact that a bolt in the front prevents the rear rims/tires from being installed up front. I would also report them to Infiniti HQ for ripping off their customers.

on the S you can't move any thing around, but on the Xs im not sure, depends on if the tires are directional.

If he has an AWD then the 18's are the same size and can rotated.
I just had my X rotated and balanced for $30 at Infiniti of Cincinnati.

The 17" standard and X's can be rotated. The S with staggered 18" tires, just balance them.
Just for the people who don't know, staggered means the front tires is a different size than the rear, so if your unsure, just go look at the sizes on the sidewall and you'll know. If they match, rotate, if they don't, then don't.
