Problem - Advice Please?

I had a slight vibration at highway speeds and upon braking to a stop. Also noticed a "wobbly" noise at around 40-50 mph cruising. Took it into the dealership to have it looked at and they resurfaced the front rotors and also recommended tire balancing for $50 all tires.

Now there is less vibration at highways speeds and the steering wheel doesn't shake at all/much smoother upon braking to a stop. But I still notice the tire noise, and the "wobbly" sound during 40-50mph cruising, more pronounced when the road is smooth because the road noise doesn't mask out the sound.

Front left has about 6 wheel weights, and front right has 12! Is that many wheel weights a sign of something wrong with the tires or wheel itself? Might the tires be defective with possibly issue of the tire belts seperating? As mentioned, all tires have only been rebalanced once with my last dealer service visit.

Any advice on what could be wrong?

either you have a wheel / tire problem or the people don't know how to balance properly. you'll notice if it's a 1/4 oz off and there should never be weights across from each other on the wheel, diameter wise.... if there is, that's a tell-tale sign that they don't know how to balance properly.

They did it for free as part of the car warranty.

the crappy thing with balancing is if you go to a joe-blow shop and they have a bunch of kids working who don't know, and even some better shops don't teach how to balance, they'll get it close and say, aah, that's good. nope, you'll notice if it's off a hair, especially with these low profile tire setups we have.

sry OP that we are jacken ur thread,

back to the wobble, is it a sound, or an actual vibration u can feel?
is it 100% reproducible,
does it change when ur on/off the gas or on the brake

15K miles when rotor resurfacing was done by the dealer under warranty.

The wobble is a now only a sound, maybe a very faint vibration noticed through the pedals. I notice it everytime I drive the car now when I'm listening for it with the radio off. It does not change with foot on or off the brake/gas.

Like I said, usually around 40-50mph you can start to hear it, whether accelerating up or down to that speed range. If I accelerate above 60mph, then its barely noticeable.

Besides the wheels or tire, might wheel bearings also be a potential culprit?

i had a similar problem at one time.. everything was fine until highway speeds, and then, bam, it started making that weird noise, and i could kind of feel it wobbling. after further inspection, my wheel bearing went bad.. and thats what was making the noise.

i pulled off the rotor, and the calipers, and there is four bolts holding on the wheel bearing. there was some grease all around it, and when i compared the old wheel bearing to the new one, there was quite a bit more play in the old bearing... the new bearing had no play, just spun around, like a good wheel bearing should..

that was my issue, hope yours is easier than mine!
