Going to Thailand.... any recommendations?
We're going to Thailand and hitting up Bangkok and Krabi (Southern Thailand)... We've done research and all, but I was just wondering if there any recommendations as to what to see and do from those who have been there before?

Yup... got tons of shots already, 2 cameras, 3 memory sticks (2 Gig, 2 Gig, & 4 Gigs) so I'm good to go!
I'm gonna have to pass on "Hey Solja Boy... you want suki suki" pick up lines from trannies...  Which I heard they are really hard to tell boy from girl.... yikes....

You'll love it.. Before you go pack some extra $5 bills.. Use U.S. money to tip around tourist areas.. believe me $5 goes a long way.. I'm assuming you'll be staying at a pretty nice hotel.. eat lots of food.. it'll be fun =).
last time we went the family of us went for a week with $5,000 (4 of us) and we came back with $2,000 after literally living it up.. so yep enjoy man.. [it was $1 US to $54 back then] You'll want to 1. Visit the palace 2. Get happy massage 3. Watch the Trans show 4. Get your a$$ to their beaches =) 5. Buy stuff and eat well Edit: BTW if you're staying at one room for the whole time there flip the room service guy a $20 and watch how fast you get ice for your beer there

i lived in Bangkok for 7 years, mostly as a teenager, so some of this information might be old, but here's what i'd suggest in no particular order:
-Patpong is Bangkok's red light district. It's primarily composed of 3 sois (side streets). The first one has a really cool night market on the actual street with bootleg everything...very cool. That street is lined mostly by clubs/bars that do sex shows and stripping. Guys stand outside with menus of the shows you can watch and try to entice you to go in. If you do go in, expect to be handed drinks without asking, which you must pay for. Luckily they're not expensive. The second soi doesn't have a whole bunch going on, couple of bars that I remember my highschool teachers hanging out in. The third soi, which we called the "gay soi" has alot of dance clubs and gay dudes. I remember the clubs being alot of fun. -Grand Palace. INCREDIBLE place. You'll probably need a day to really take in the whole thing. -Muay Thai at Lumpini Stadium. Watching Thai boxing in person is an entirely different experience than seeing it on TV. Make sure you do this. -River boat tour. On the Chao Phraya river. Lots of ways to do this. Some can be a real eye-opener if they take you through some of the poorer "neighborhoods" in the area. make sure you get one that stops at Wat Arun. -Rose Garden. interesting Thai cultural shows. Outside of Bangkok. -Khao Sarn road. Big tourist night-time hangout. Lots of cool bars. Not red-light like patpong. -Ayuthaya. The ancient capital, back when Thailand was known as Siam. Lots of ruins and temples. Very cool day tip. -Safari world. Big zoo where you can drive through the animal habitat. The two memories that stand out the most in my head are driving a few feet away from a male lion and the monkeys jumping on the car. -Chatuchak Weekend market. HUGE market with all types of Thai stuff. Even if you don't buy anything it's still cool to go see. Some tips: DO NOT drink tap water. Be prepared to haggle for damn near everything you try to buy. Taxis are safe. You'll see Red Bull in little brown bottles, it's NOT the same as it is here. Don't give money to beggars, the Thai's generally look down on that. If you think it's a female, look for an adam's apple. Unless you're extremely lucky or avoid "going native" completely you'll most likely get some form of food poisoning or food sickness....one word: Buscopan. There's a TON more to do and I could go on and on but that's a pretty good start for a tourist list. Oh, and if you play golf there's about a billion golf courses in and around Bangkok. They're all beautiful and green fees are ridiculously cheap compared to the US. As far as Krabi goes, I only got down there once for a few days. A friend of mine's parents owned a bungalo down there. Absolutely gorgeous beaches. Bring sunblock...alot of sunblock.

Go to MBK...You can get real Designer stuff for 5% of the price, 5 floors of the best bargains in the world.
Emporium is another sick mall Go to Q bar...really hot club..Contrary to what every cab driver in Bankok tells you DO NOT go to Hollywood. its the worst club i have ever been to. Go see the biggest Golden buddah structure. I highly reccomend the boat tour around the city. Be very careful picking up girls. I couldn't tell the difference between girls and Lady boys... If you trying to go the beach, Koh sah mui, Phuket are the hot spots but if you don't have much time, go to Pattaya, about 2 hr drive from Bangkok have fun!!
