Same two girls but this time, taking a road trip to Santa Fe
Hello everybody,
Me and my best friend are also thinking of taking a road trip from Cali to Santa Fe, NM this coming summer... we're thinking of renting a hybrid SUV and stopping at a few landmarks such as the Grand Canyon on our way. What do you guys suggest we should do? What do you guys suggest we should be careful of... anything out of the ordinary such as "don't pick up hitchikers"... any other precautions? I sure would appreciate it. ~G-girl

girls always get away with speeding. Last time I got pulled over and my friend was driving, wearing a really short skirt by the way, I could see the cop rushing up to the car looking pissed cuz she was doing around 140kph in an 80kph zone. He comes up, takes one long look at her skirt, and says "Slow down miss" smiles and walks away without asking for a license or anything else for that matter. Just one look inside, a perverted smile and says "Slow down miss" and thats it. If it was me driving I wudda got the car towed right away.. |

Well, I'm in Albuquerque so I can tell you a bit NM-wise. Definitely watch your speed in NM - the staters here are terrible about speeding tickets, they don't care if you're female and from out of state, they WILL get you and you will have to come back for court.
There's lots of fun stuff to see in Santa Fe, it's very arty and nice to visit. As far as anything else to watch out for I don't know really. Santa Fe doesn't have nearly the crime that Albuquerque does.

If you go to the Grand Canyon area, it's in the middle of nowhere so everything is extremely expensive due to freight charges. Stock up on necessities such as snacks/water/booze/cigarettes, which is a good idea regardless of where you go. But any last minute thing at the grocery store is going to cost an arm and a leg in those neck of the woods. A medium pizza is about 25 bucks and a carton of generic cigarettes are around 60 bucks. Have fun!

We're thinking of renting a hybrid S2020. Besides, who's going to mind the store if you go with us? ![]()

I went to the canyon a few years ago, I arrived at the gate very early and I was glad I did. I was able to drive and see a lot of the sites before the crowds appeared. As it got closer to noon, it was hard to find parking in many areas. A drive through Sedona is worth the time also. ![]() Last edited by 6MTzer : 01-05-2008 at 01:50 PM. |
