Cancun

I want to go to Cancun for five nights in early May, stay at either the Royal Cancun (love that it is adults only) or the Fiesta Americana. Any thoughts on these two hotels? Since I'm not familiar with Cancun, is there much around the two hotels (though I really just plan on staying at the hotel most of the time)?

Is early May a busy time? Should be past all of the Spring Breaks and most schools are just starting to get out, so I can't imagine it is horribly busy then.

Also, has anyone done the Bob Cancun personal submarine tours? Looks neat but not sure if it is worth the money, though it is only $75.

Hi there,

Cancun... whenever I go there, I only stay at one place.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...Peninsula.html

It's adults only, clean, I feel like a queen when I'm there, they're efficient, they have several restaurants in the resort, one of the best massages I've had and I'm an avid, global spa goer. There are too many good things to say about this place.

As for spring breakers, they do not tolerate them at this hotel. They'd asked a few spring breakers to leave one year I was there. Impressed me!

About Bob Cancun submarine, is this it?

If you go, say hello to Iggy the Iguana, their hotel mascot! Have fun!

P.S their drinks are REALLY strong there! LOL My gosh, I was pretty tipsy after 3 margaritas and they were small glasses!

I'll have to look at that hotel as well, looks nice. How was the food?

And yes, that is the BOB Cancun submarine. Looks neat and for $75, looks like it would be worth the money even if you are only down in the water for 30 minutes or so.

If I go and get tired of being at the hotel, what is there to do around them?

Hey there!

The hotel's nice! I am frugal at heart, but when it comes to traveling and education, I do spend a little bit more than some of my peers. I figured I worked so hard to earn my $$$, I want to pamper myself a bit.

I'm a big fan of the Palace Resorts when I'm in the Carribean side of Mexico. There are other hotels there that are comparable... I'd have to go dig it up in my computer @ home, I don't have it here.

I believe Aventura has 11 restaurants and the food is average to above average. The Italian and steak restaurants are my favorite. They have an AZN restaurant which is not AZN at all... but considering it's in a Mexican resort, I wasn't expecting them to be good. However, the Mexican restaurant there is GREAT!

I'll post the other resorts there and BTW, I only like to go to all-inclusives if I can help it or find one. Palace Resorts are only all-inclusives.

I'll post the other resorts when I get a chance tonight.

Are there any hotels that have primarily Mexican restaurants? I'm a Mexican food junkie, lol.

edit: The Adventura looks nice but I have to rule it out simply because they did not enclose the bathroom sinks behind doors. I cannot stand hotels that leave the sinks open to the room, even if it's just the hallway.

I went to cancun twice. Once was 4 years ago and the last time was 2 years ago. Both times I stayed at the Cancun Palace and loved it both times. I love Cancun. Its one of my favorite places to go. Always something to do.

GJBenn,

I've re-read your post (sorry, I was in the middle of putting together a presentation while I was coming in and out in here today) and didn't really quiet grasped your question.

As far as Mexican food, the resort I'd gone to will make you ANYTHING you want. Just ask them. It's an all-inclusive resort.

Unless what you're inquiring is for me to give you advice on some dive hotel, I'm sorry, I don't have that information. I don't like staying at "dive" places.

Nope, something nice, 4-5 "star."

Still not exactly sure how the all-inclusive works. Are you able to order anything on the menus or are there limitations?

I'm heading to Cancun next Friday, we are staying at the Gran Melia. I have never stayed there and will gladly let you know how it is. I know it's very nice online..haha. But will let you know how the food and service are. We have a time share in Cozumel so usually we just stay one night in Playa Del Carmen before we go over to the island. I've stayed in Akumal before but we rented a house. I'm so ready for a vacation next week can't come soon enough!

Hey there,

Aventura is considered a 5 star resort.

All inclusive means, meals and drinks are included in the price you pay. You don't have to carry your wallet anywhere in the resort. All the meals, all the drinks, the entertainment, gratuities (however, I still tip our maid so he/she would make our room extra clean), bottled water are free because you'd already paid for them.

In this place, I'd asked them to make me quesadillas in the middle of the night (room service) when I had a snack-attack. I asked them to put add jalapenos, fresh mushrooms and shredded pork. LOL They delivered it within minutes. Their breakfast not only has the usual stuff such as hot and cold cereal, coffee, tea, etc, they'll make you fresh tortillas, eggs anyway you want, waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit, fresh squeeze orange, mango, pineapple juices. Lunch is the same, dinner is better. You can leave your wallet in the safe in your room whenever you go around the resort.

Read up on the site I'd sent to you and you'll know what I'm talking about. Too much to list on here.

Have fun!
