Playa del Carmen and places of the like, your advice.

So a group of friends and I are planning a trip to a "refined" vacation city south of the border. We're getting away from Cancun-type destinations and want a little more classy of a time, not a highschool senior trip.

Right now we're looking at a condo in Playa del Carmen, right on the beach. I was wondering if any of you frequent (or infrequent) travelers had any advice or recommendations for places to stay in PDC or places to go? Thanks for your time and happy travels

I got married in PDC back in 05, what are your main interests there? There are countless resorts catering to different styles of vacations, but the overall theme is to relax and enjoy the underwater world there. Are you looking at an all-inclusive type of resort, and if so, how much are you willing to spend?

www.locogringo.com is a great website to search the various resorts that are in the PDC area as well as Cancun and Cozumel.

I wish I can give you advice, but looks like the guys already have... I only stay in all-inclusive resorts in the Carribean...

Have a great time!

Haha, thanks kernel, i'll make sure to write those on my arm

And Garnet, its strange that you mention locogringo b/c thats what we used tonight to find our spot. We ended up getting a condo, i believe? Ha, i was more passively supportive than actively involved. The lot of us are, for the most part, "established' and are willing to indulge where necessary - while not wasting money on needless expenses.

What did you and your spouse do at nights? Now that the residence is established i'm looking to get an idea of the appeals of the nightlife and if there are certain things/localities in PDC that are really worth seeing but not popularized to new travelers. Thanks again for all your input.

And G-girl, i intend to have a PHENOMENAL time! This will be my first real vacation... only took me until age 23 to get there! I'll be sure to post some pictures when i get back... in June, b/c that's when we're going :]
