Wow, that must be a blast. How long does a trip like that take?

It looks like a lot of fun but it's work to. Make your slip before dusk, wash and fuel the boat, shower, eat and get a few drinks before bed. Up at five to do it again. But..........it is fun too!

Dead on! I'll try to answer a few of the questions. I worked these trips as mate while I am finalizing everything for my captains license. I am still documenting everything, but should be close to the 100 gross ton license. The trip to GA was around 350 miles and supposed to take 13 hours running outside (in the ocean), but didnt go as planned. About 15 miles off shore from Port Canaveral we lost one of the vdrives, made it in, but then had to finish the trip on one engine (steering gets fun on one wheel) average 8 knots instead of 26. It was a long, long, long weekend. The boat was a 2001 SeaRay Five Ten that had been purchased for around 375k and was being shipped to Italy. |
