anyone flew commercial airline with infant baby
Anyone?
It seem like I need to do this comming spring/summer. I never have traveled with infant flying commercial air. I will be traveling alone with one baby. She will be around 1yr old then, so I am planing on getting a separate seat for herself. Flight is from Los Angeles/LAX to Inchon, Korea so flight will be almost 13 hours long (not really looking foward to this) Any tip is welcome. A diaper change in a crammed up toilet is beyong my knowledge. How am I gonna do this?

I have twin boys, 19 months old. My wife took them by herself to visit Grandma when they were about 12 weeks old
. I told her she was crazy, but it wasn't that bad. She held one and bought a seat for the other and he rode in his carseat. We took them again this past Christmas, and it was more challenging since they're so much more mobile now. We each carried one on our lap since they don't have to have their own ticket until age 2. If you're getting your daughter her own seat, just take her carseat right on the plane and buckle it in. We have fairly big seats for our boys (Britax Marathons) and they fit even in the smaller regional jets. We've only been on Alaska Airlines with the boys so far, but we've found the flight attendants to be very helpful. Fortunately all of our flights have been pretty short (2 hours or less), so we haven't had to deal with the diaper issue.

I traveled with one of my nephews when he was almost 1 year old, and I was with my Great Aunt. But we didn't go as far as you are about to embark though.
Here are some suggestions: Bring a pacifier or have your baby suck on her bottle during take off and landing. The sucking motion and swallowing will keep her ears from getting plugged and that creates pain in their small ear canal. If she's off the bottle, bring her sippy-cup. Bring her favorite toys that would keep her occupied during the long flight. Make sure anything that she considers "security" such as a blanket is with her. Layer her clothing. Airplane temperature fluctuates. Pack her food in plastic containers rather than glass jars. Bring some healthy snacks for her. Bring some Baby Orajel. Bring some baby aspirin. Baby wipes for her hands and mouth. If you are going to let her roam the aisle once the plane reaches a certain elevation, make sure you keep your wallet, etc. on you while you walk around. That's all I have to tell you... we only traveled from Cali to NYC. Take it easy and keep your eye on her. And don't be afraid to ask for help to get your luggage. I was traveling with my nephew who was a baby at the time and an elderly relative. It was a challenge. Have a safe trip. .

My wife and I flew to Houston to San Jose 3 times before our son was 1.
Tylenol and have an extra person makes all the difference. She did fly to Nashville with him alone, but luckily it was a direct flight and PPL really helped her a lot. My son really sleep the entire time. GOOD LUCK girl

I haven't yet, but my first experience with this will be coming in a few weeks. My daughter will be 1 year old next week and we are taking her to the Caribbean with us. It's a 4.5 hour flight so it should be interesting.

We flew from St. louis to San Diego with our 9 month old. We bought a seat for himand took his carseat to sit and sleep in. We also took a laptop with a dvd-r full of Baby Einstein videos he was into at that age with us. The videos were what made the trip tolerable. Battery life will be an issue unless there's some way to plug in.
On your flight your child should be able to walk around some and it'll help to tire her out and sleep. |

Let me tell you my/our story.....We flew on United Airlines to Hawaii in 2001 before 911. We had 5 young kids...so we took a whole row of seats in the back of the plane.....
A 6 hours flight to hawaii from phx....It was so draining, I say. But our daughter who was 1 yrs old, 5th child; had a difficult time dealing with air pressure. We did everything from trying to walk her around and, changing her, feeding her. A lot of ppl. ( they were starring at us ...what to do!??! ) & flight attendant around me tried everything that they could think of from giving food, water, and toys to make her stop screaming for the first hour in the air. My husband even tried to sooth her by rubbing her back, tried to give a bottle again but didn't work. While our other kids who were 8,5,4,3 yrs. of age....were quiet and they were excited being on the plane. They were not bored at all. They had ear plugs and I had a pack of chewing gum....in case they had same problem. Finally, I had no choice...I gave her baby tylenol cold infant medicine ( an advice given from another parent ) and stuck a bottle in her mouth... since she cried so much that she was the point of dehydration HTH....good luck to you!!

Ok guys and girls...I am taking a trip with my hubba and baby to Salt Lake City from San Diego this weekend. It's only 2 hrs of flying, but I will have a basic idea of traveling with an infant baby. Traveling with my hubba will make things extremely easier because he's traveling armed and therefore he can basically carry whatever he wants. Will let you guys know how it went.

I just got back from the Dominican Republic the end of last week and we took our 13 month old daughter. It was almost a 4.5 hour flight and she did really well. She is a VERY busy little girl that doesn't sit still for long, but we took some toys and books to keep her amused. We had my wife's parents along as well so that helped a little. I had to laugh, because anytime we ran into some turbulence, my daughter loved it and would start to laugh. Her ears never bothered her either, which was a very good thing. I must say though, the fold out change table in the bathroom was very small and she didn't like it one bit.
You'll make out fine babylef. ![]()
