It's been quite a few years now but I did travel on VIA from my home town of Halifax to Quebec city and Montreal and returned that way too. We had a sleeper car for the overnight.
I've also traveled on the Rocky Mountaineer Line through the Rocky Mountains in Alberta through to Kamloops BC and then on Vancouver. The train stopped in Kamloops where we overnighted at a motel and then got us to Vancouver. There were some fantastic sights carving through the mountains, rivers, tunnels, wildlife etc. My wife and I enjoyed it. Meals on board were great, accommodations fine and that type of relaxing slow paced touring was a nice change to try. |

I traveled from Philadelphia PA to Florida. It was alot of fun.
Suggestions: Upgrade to a suite(The suite is well worth the money, I think it is only like $300 more, atleast ours was) Go with someone you have fun with, not a boring person Bring a laptop Relax That will make the trip alot more enjoyable. But overall I would give it a 8 out of 10. To me it is one of those things that you have to try atleast once. I forgot to mention, whatever you do GET CABIN/YOUR OWN ROOM. There is nothing worse than traveling in the seats and sleeping with 30 other people. Have fun! -AGThing1227 |

I think in August I will take this route with my girlfriend. We will go to Seattle and stay there 3 or 4 days then fly back home. It should be an interesting and relaxing trip. I've always wanted to see northwest too.
And yeah I'll definitely be getting a sleeper car.
