only two airlines fly to tahiti from lax: air france and air tahiti nui. one of my cousins had a really bad experience with air france while another had a great experience from air tahiti nui so we went with them. no complaints here. it's about a 7.5 hour flight from lax to papeete, tahiti. from there you take a puddlejumper(air tahiti) to bora bora which takes about 40 minutes. after that, a boat shuttle will take you to your resort.

le meridien, a starwood resort, is not bad at all. it's slightly newer and near the st. regis(probably the nicest resort in bora bora). it's on the other side of the lagoon but it faces the volcano(mt. otemanu). we stayed at www.boraboranui.com (a starwood luxury resort) which is on a private island(motu toopua) facing the west at the horizon. this gives us a spectacular sunset every evening. there are no other resorts around us which makes it more secluded.

Great pics and definitely on my bucket list! In all my travel, I've still got to get to the Pacific!

I was just checking out the website of the resort that you stayed at. It looks like a room over the water is 79,730 XPF per night. That translates into almost $1050 CDN per night from what I can tell. Does that sound accurate to you?
