Scuba in Playa del Carmen
So the wedding is quickly approaching....which means the honeymoon to PDC is also quickly approaching
![]() We just decided that we would like to learn to scuba dive, and go while we're down there. We're taking the class to get certified right now, and by the time we leave for the honeymoon, we will be done with the pool dives but will not have completed the open water dives. The instructor said it would be fine for us to go diving when we're in PDC as long as it's with a PADI certified school. So I was curious if anyone on here knew of a good place to go diving in the area (not restricted to PDC) that has PADI certified instructors. I read that Xel Ha is an amazing place to go diving, and we'd love to go if it would be possible. I'm sure I could search online, but recommendations from actual people are always more helpful. Thanks! ![]() |

I've never scuba dived at Xel Ha, but I have snorkeled there and it was incredible. Of all the places I've snorkeled, I would say the Mayan Riviera has been the best.......so I can only imagine how good the diving is there.

We have friends that own a fishing/diving business in Cozumel. You might check with them and see if they will come over or it may be worth it to take the ferry over to Cozumel to meet up with them. They are awesome people and very good at what they do. It's Albatros Charters, his name is Brok and hers is Rita. When are you going? we will be there June 19-28th at our timeshare in Cozumel.

We are planning on taking a day trip to Cozumel, so if we can go diving there, that would be really awesome! We'll do some exploring on ground as well as underwater. I will look them up and tell them you referred me ![]() We'll be there June 2nd-7th. The wedding is in Seattle on May 31st, we'll be flying back to LA on the 1st, then flying out to Mexico on the 2nd....a lot of traveling for a short period of time, but I'm looking forward to it so much! ![]() |

Xel Ha is great for snorkeling, but it's too shallow for diving. I think you'll want to go out to Cozumel for a real dive. ![]()

You're right....Xel Ha has something called snuba, which by breaking down the name you can probably guess is a mix between snorkeling and scuba....that would probably be very cool, so maybe we'll try that out. I did contact Lisa's friends at Albatros Charters to set up a couple trips for us....I can't wait! |

i dove in cozumel over spring break with my dad and it was some of the best diving i had ever done... they have a great wall dive that ranges from 60-120 feet depending on your skill level, as well as a pretty neat shipwreck you can dive... snuba diving is just going down without a tank, mask, or flippers but with like a big bowl on your head that has an air tube that is connected to the top that goes up to an air tank on the boat... that is another pretty cool experience if you get the chance to do that...
