Those who have gone to Hawaii

We got our tickets and hotel all set, we are there from Oct 16th- Oct 24th, we are flying into the Oahu island and will be at Waikiki beach area.

I am trying to make reservation for things to do and so far all I have planned is for Luau on Friday.

Which day would it be good to go deep sea fishing?

Which day would it be good to go to pearl harbor?

I hate lines and would rather wait for a day that most people are back from vacation and less in line.

What other attractions are a must?

A lot of ppl parasail and etc... remember to just relax @ the beach... and remember that the temperature is gonna be 75 ALL DAY LONG!! 2 AM Beach swims FTW

she's going to oahu....molokini is in maui.

any day you go to pearl harbor, there's going to be a line....so i suggest getting there a little before they open. btw, the uss arizona memorial is free but the uss missouri is not. do the arizona first to avoid the long wait then you can take your time at the uss misssouri.

there are a lot of good local plate lunch places like rainbows drive thru off of kapahulu in waikiki and side street inn off hopaka st. near ala moana mall. there's also keneke's of off the highway in waimanalo. all good. but if you want to do a nice meal, check out alan wong's. there are two locations, one at the ala moana mall and the original one off of king street. do the king street, the one at the mall is total crap. forget waikiki beach...it's way too crowded. you're better off going to waimea beach in north shore or kahlua beach or lanikia on the east side.

there's a chain called zippys and you're going to see them all over the island. it's kinda like a denny's but better with some hawaiian flavor to it. the nicest one is in hawaii kai. it's worth checking out.

i'm sure you've probably been to roy's since they are popping up all over the place but the original in hawaii kai is worth a visit. it's where hrc(hawaiin regional cuisine) all began. it's the only roy's i'll eat at.

have fun.

Most of time you can get a day trip to another island (by air) that's reasonable priced. Try to go to the Big Island - the route I took landed in Hilo (rainforest side). It was a guided tour that checked out some waterfalls, macadamian nut plantation, orchid farm, etc. and took you on a tour of the black sand beaches and Kiluana volcano. You couldn't see the flowing lava when we were there, but you could see the hardened areas and steam from were the active lava was. I think you can get a helicopter ride to see the volcano from the air, but probably expensive

Pearl Harbor is a must see , but it is busy. You can do a land tour and go right in the memorials, or the have a breakfast/lunch or dinner cruise that leaves Honolulo Harbor. You tour around all the memorials from the water side, eat, put a memorial wreath in the water.

Do the luau - at least you can say you went to one - even if the food will probably suck. Polynesian village is supposed to have a good one.

Never went deep sea fishing there - but I hear it's really good off Maui and The Big Island.

Hope this helps - you'll have a great time

The best stuff to see on Oahu doesn't cost anything.

I'd also recommend eating at some of the local places in strip malls and such, there you will find some of the best food and sushi on the island.

Seven days on Ohau....?

You need to see other islands since you'll be there for a week. Ohau takes
two days but visit the momorials and try to understand what went on back
before and after WW II. With a week in the islands try to visit Maui and the
Big island. A good travel agent should have set this up for you, maybe it
can be fixed. On our first trip to the islands we met a couple from the mid-west that scheduled two weeks on Ohau....travel agent sould have been hung!

if you're into snorkeling, go to Hanauma Bay. I often go to Oahu and its the one thing I try and always do. http://www.co.honolulu.hi.us/parks/f...ay/welcome.htm
And as someone said earlier, Alan Wong's is excellent.
