NCL or RCCL cruise line?
Hi,
I am planning to go for a European Cruise for our honeymoon sometime Mar-Apr 2009. I had checked several cruise lines and left with NCL or RCCL. Both have similar itineraries for a 10-11 day cruise. Anybody here have experience with these cruise lines? As I am now resides in Singapore, the next step will be to find which cruise lines had a local agent that I could talk to to arrange our trip to Europe. Also, this is our first time cruising. Thank you in advance. |

I haven't been on an NCL cruise, however I have been on a couple of RCCL cruises. I can only compare RCCL to Carnival, and RCCL is definitely a few steps up from Carnival. The RCCL ships are way more elegant than Carnival and their service is top notch. I would highly recommend RCCL. You can check out reviews of all of the ships below.

Never been on NCL either but I've had great experiences with RCL. They have the biggest/newest boats so I would chose based on the ammenities each ship has to offer. I have a NCL brochure and the boat/rooms look very nice so I'd would personally go with which ever cruise line had the best rates for a suite because you really can't go wrong!

I've been on RCCL but not NCL either but my friends took a cruise to Alaska to NCL they said the cruise was nice but the ship sucked. Not sure why but I loved the RCCL, the food overall was much better than Carnival but Carnival had better fresh fruit. RCCL had more activities and more options.
Good luck and have fun

the good thing about ncl is that they offer "freestyle cruising." this means you can eat when you want and where you want. also, there is no assigned seating so you can eat only with people in your party...or if you choose, you can dine with others. it's all up to you. without having set schedules, it's a little more relaxing. my wife and i really enjoyed our ncl cruise to alaska a few years back. no complaints here.

Cool, thank you for the reply. I think I will go with RCCL as I heard a lot of good reviews about them.
Now, I will just have to choose the ships and itineraries. I narrowed it down to Brilliance of the seas, Voyager of the seas or Independence of the seas. Any input? All of them covers most of the places that we would like to go as we had never been to europe and this should be fun . |

One of my guys tells me look at the cabins as the ship pulls in. I look and ask what's up. He says to me, nothing look funny? It's then I realize................boy-boy......boy-boy.....boy-boy.....boy-boy......boy-boy......girl-girl......boy-boy.......etc. As far as the cruises themselves, never went on the NCL ship, but they tended to use a lot of asian/pacific islanders for their staffing to reduce cost. I would assume that would be the case even with the European tours. Down here they didn't have a repuation for having quality service and had some issues with contagious sicknesses which I suppose can happen on any cruise ship where you've got a lot of people in confined spaces. Anyhow, don't let my doom and gloom disuade you from taking the cruise because my mom and several of my co-workers have taken cruises in the Med and had a blast. |

Funny you mention that........there was an NCL cruise ship docked in my city yesterday rented by Rosie O'Donnell full of gays (not that there is anything wrong with that). I stayed in my office at lunch. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/new-brunswi...nb-cruise.html

Brilliance of the Seas is a very elegant ship - good if you are a couple. For kids and family, Independence is the way to go (Freedom from Miami is the same ship). Voyager is a scaled down version of Independence.
I have sailed all 35 of their ships - tough job...I know...
