Airline safety
Do you have a list of airlines that you'd absolutely refuse to fly in? I am very particular about what airlines I fly in... even if I have to pay the difference because of safety reasons.
What airline do you refuse to fly in?

It would probably make more sense to have a list of airlines that people DO trust...much shorter
Here's my experience so far: American Airlines, Northwest, Delta, Southwest: state of airplanes worries me, mostly old, dirty; crew is generally rude, service is bad. JetBlue: newer planes, good service...so far so good. Alitalia: see american airlines above, plus most landings were pretty rough with lots of corrections. KLM: Ok planes in general, service is also decent. Flights are usually pretty rough, worst landings so far. British Airways: Nice planes, good service, pretty good landings...however you have to be crazy nowadays to fly through Heathrow. Air France: Decent planes, good service usually, decent landings. Lufthansa: New planes, no leg room, good service and good landings. Tarom: new planes, rude crew, excellent landings/flights That being said, none of the existing american airlines inspire any confidence but JetBlue..from what I have seen so far. I would say Lufthansa is a good bet on international flights, though more expensive usually. |

I won't fly airlines that are in bankruptcy - yes, yes, I know that once in bankruptcy "the FAA makes sure maintenance and safety is at required standards", but think it's BS. Current major airlines in bankruptcy (I believe) are ATA, Aloha and US Airways.
Won't fly American because they SUCK!! Gave them three chances on three different trips, they screwed me each time. Continental has been pretty good, Delta is okay. Haven't flown Southwest in years, but they're probably still good. I always get interested (read 'involved'...) when my international trips are booked using airlines I don't recognize. Although, and you may have experienced this too, most Asian airline service is better than US. European airlines vary, some are better some are worse.

When flying to my home country, I always try to fly with EL AL. They have the best damn security, and their pilots are amongst the best. Their service however, could be better.
Other airlines I like: Swissair Lufthansa Air Austria Singapore Airlines

I like Delta and Continental.
I refuse to fly American and Air Tran, and avoid US Air/America West at all costs. Sure wish Jet Blue offered service out of my area but I would have to fly up to JFK just to get a connecting flight. Certainly is not a very central location for the hub of a continental airline.

Forgot about Jet Blue. The Direct TV alone is worth flying with them.

You should. It's a very unique country. No bigger than the state of New Jersey, yet the north has mountains with snow and the south has a desert. In between you have everything you can imagine: History, night life, commercial cities, and much more to see and do. I recommend going there around April-May or September-October. Best weather.

here's my thinking...first look at this link http://www.oagairlineawards.com/
in there they have winners for every year.almost every where you fly, there're like 5 different airlines to choose from.you don't need to know the rest to avoid.by asking members here you basicly get feedbacks from personal experiences, not safety...has nothing to do with safety.if an airline takes me to my destination and back doesn't means it's a safe airline.when you talk about airlines safety,it means your life and/or your love ones life depend on it....then i rather bank on those award winner airlines.when they gave out an award, safety is the very first thing they have in mind along with other criteri as.during a year they do have undercover experience official persons fly in different airlines.they base on facts, hard evidences, track records in their judgements, with the assist of the FAA. tight airport security and strict boarding doesn't mean it safe,it means it's unstable airport/airline they do that because there's a very good chance some one will carry bomb to the plane and blow it up. next time you want to fly Eva,try Cathay PacificS.my personal choice is 1-Singapore 2-Cathay for that route. also another thing to look at is an airline could fly in many many routes, some routes they use state of the art new air planes, some shorter/remote route they use older small planes which could hurt them on safety issue. search up banned airlines for a list of absolute avoid. |

^^ I know which airlines are safe from my experience Tinman. I flew every 2 weeks for 10 years, I was gone 10 months out of 1 calendar year - for about 8 years.... I usually ask people for their opinions base on their experience.... there are certain airlines I refuse to get into such as China Airlines, China South, Garuda, Malaysia, etc... I'd rather give up my left arm than to fly in any of those establishments... but sometimes, I take into someone else's opinion.
And most of the time, when I post something on here such as this topic, I put it out there for someone else to learn from.
