Sandals Resorts- Anyone done it?!?!

Just curious if its worth it, which ones would you reccomend, etc etc. My parents travel agent is trying to talk us into trading the parents timeshare(s) and going to a Sandals resort for 1 of the 2 weeks of our honeymoon. Right now we are trying to do the Marriot-St Kitts one week, and maybe a Sandals resort the 2nd week. Does everyone think its worth the money?!?!

We went to Sandals Dunn's River Villagio and Golf Resort in Jamaica for our rhoneymoon and loved it. You'll want a concierge level room or better (breakfast on your balcony every morning, in room bar, private check in, etc.) Bottom line, the wife and I loved it and will go back to Sandals.

Awesome, thanks for the insight! I know that there are different level rooms, as in Butler/conceirge etc etc. What does the Concierge level room entail?

I was at the Royal Jamaican a lot of years ago. It was pretty good then, although off the resort I didn't enjoy the harassments from locals trying to sell us everything.

^^ that is what concerns me. I am thinking if we go, we would likely never even leave the resort. Thats my main concern with going to Jamaica.

Sean, I've personally never stayed at a Sandals resort but a few of my family members have both in Jamaica and in the Bahamas. From what they have told me and the pictures they've shared, it's definitely a step above your typical all-inclusive resort. I personally wouldn't hesitate for a second booking at a Sandals resort. I have been to Jamaica, and yes you do get nagged by the locals, but from my experience it's no worse than other Caribbean destinations.

There's no real need to go off the resort and if you do you could even take some guided tours which have less interference.

Their resorts would definitely be very nice for a honeymoon. We visited a couple of other ones also since one of the benefits is being able to get a bus transfer and day passes to visit their other locations. That breaks up your vacation and allows you full privileges elsewhere in their chain.

Sweet, thanks for the information guys. I appreciate it. We are leaning towards that route now. We are meeting with the travel agent lady next Monday about it all.

Sean, what timeframe are you looking at going? I keep a VERY close eye on a lot of travel specials and can potentially give you a hand with it. If you are not set on a specific date and are flexible, last minute deals can be spectacular.

Haha, that would be awesome! The timeframe is pretty set though, its part of the honeymoon trip. We are getting married July 4, 2009. We are planning on honeymooning from the 5-19th. The 1st week at one resort and the 2nd at the other. We are hoping to get be at the Marriot St Kitts resort one week and the Sandals resort the other. Its looking like the Marriot St Kitts is the wildcard, so we will probably get it booked whichever week we can, and try to book Sandals the other week. That would unfortunately make it pretty tough to try and hold out for a great last minute deal... I like your thinking though!!
