I'm getting the same smell, could be oil or some other fluid.Happens usually when I'm entering the highway and gun it.Only lasts a few seconds but would like to get to the source of it.

can't really tell if it's really serious or not...but you'd always smell the gas smell everytime you gun your car....always experience it everytime i gun mine (for 2 years)...have no prob so far so i assume it's NOT serious

after I do a hard run, I can smell something like a burn oil smell, but it goes away after a few seconds.

Mine does it too. I sure would feel better to know what it is. Like everyone else, I only notice it when I've run it hard. Mine's an automatic and when I do run it hard, I do it in "manual mode". I can't believe no one has figured out what's causing it yet.

I'm 04 5AT I had the same problem, but mine's a tad off the electrical smell topic.

Mine smelled like a cinnamon roll. I popped the hood, could not find anything..... So, I took it back to the dealer, turns out when I had the car serviced, the tech dropped a piece of his danish which lodged in my engine bay and began to melt and drip.... lol

No, but I do experience that electrical smell too. In fact, I just had that the other day and I swear I thought my car was on fire. I was about to pull over. When I got home, nothing...no smell whatsoever anymore.... lol

I started smelling that also. ....

What scars me is recently I changed to full synthetic M1 5W30 and hope it is not that ..

After i stop after a long ride, there is a "oil burning" smell and it goes away after some time.

yes i would add that the smell has a hint of an electrical wires burning type of odor. There was a few times I was thinking of pulling over, I thought i would catch fire .. It is really hard to pin-point this issue it comes and goes, I just hope my car doesn't just catch fire one day.

I get this occasionally too, and don't have to run it hard, just at the end of my normal commute. No evidence of leaks or anything. I run synth oil and my car is 5AT.

i have had a 04 g35 sedan 5AT and now a 04 Coupe 6MT and they both do that.. the smell is a raw gas smell even though it doesnt seem like it . the prob is usually caused by not burning premium gas like your supposed to. but if you do run premium and u still get the smell i would change my spark plugs.

that happens when you do not push your oil dip stick in all the way, as the motor runs, especially when you gun it, oil starts comeing out.

Check your dipstick and check that whole area down below for any oil residue

I'd also check the spark plug tube seals for leakage.
