Stock Immobilizer

Hey guys, I was just wondering about the stock immobilizer. If I'm sitting in the car and arm it through the key fob and manually unlock the door I can get the factory alarm to go off. As it's going off, I can still stick the key in and start the car. Is this right? Shouldn't the immobilizer kick in when the alarm is going off? Or is the chip in the key basically the immobilizer? Thanks.

as long as you are using a correctly chipped key, you car will start. i believe the immobilizer is only for anyone trying to hotwire the car or using a copied key that does not have a correspondingly programmed chip.
