TSB's are not recalls. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is simply a heads up to the service departments from the manufacturer that a problem exists and that its okay to chargeback the manufacturer for the repair. A recall is non-voluntary and will be completed regardless of the mileage or age of the vehicle.
That being said, TSB should only be performed while the item is under warranty. If its a powertrain item then your fine. If its cosmetic, you'll have to work with Penske to get it done. |

there are 3 categories for dealerships. tsb, recall, campaign tsb are technical service bulletins. theyre diagnosis procedures and repair of common issues submitted by techs to manufacturer. manufacturer verifies the diagnosis and repair procedure, determines pay rate, and publishes the bulletin. recalls are federally mandated. must be performed to comply with nhtsa standards. theyre supposed to be covered for the life of the vehicle i believe. campaigns are voluntary. manufacturer notifies customer of applicable campaign. is not required to pass nhtsa standards etc. |

Are they legally responsible for TSB if i have 62k miles on my car? I do have compression rod and control arm clunking underneath. If they are, i am calling corporate right now.

Yea... Im getting my axle clicking noise... Dont think my 05 falls under the oil consumption issue (but i only have 26K miles on her... so I am not sure)... my warranty just expired... but I know the axle click will be under powertrain... but what about the oil consumption issue? if my motor falls under that category and all I have is powertrain will they still replace it for free? thanks for the inputs

Your motor would be covered under the powertrain warranty. From the warranty booklet. Quote:

i have an 03 AT and currently i am just a little over 40k..so looks like i am still cover under the 70k, 72 months powertrain warranty...
does that mean i can just take my vehicle to any dealership and ask them to do an oil consumption test for me and if I qualify they have to replace the engine for me? someone please help....

The 03 5AT cars aren't generally affected by the oil consumption issue, but you can take the car to any dealer and have them check out an oil consumption issue since your car is still under the powertrain warranty. Just don't let them tell you it isn't covered under the powertrain warranty. Point them to the warranty book if they do.

But if you are just imagining oil usage or it doesn't qualify as excessive you are expected to pay for dealer time to determine that no problem was found.
Only fair. Too many people confuse the dealer [an independent company] with Nissan and your warranty is with Nissan not dealer. Dealers are happy to do anything they can get paid to accomplish and their largest customer is Nissan.
