Are +20 offset 8.5 or 9.5 wide wheels too aggressive on a sedan?

I'm still looking for 18s to clear the Akebono's, found a couple but are slightly over my budget.

I did find a couple of sets that can be had either in 8.5 or 9.5" widths, but are 20 or 22 offsets. I like flush, but don't like them to stick out at all.

Thoughts are gladly appreciated.

Thanks.
- Mike

You'll be poking out big time. Not flush at all.

He's not gonna poke with a 20mm offset. It'll be perfectly flush, take Marcus's ride and also Arcee's ride. They're both running the same wheel set up.

Thanks, guys. I've checked out a couple of rides and have seen some +20s that does seem to stick out. In any case, which Marcus and Arcee should i be looking for?

I have 9.5 +35 in the rear and it's perfectly flush. How is +20 not gonna poke?

Stretch + negative camber....

I also have a 9.5" +37 rear, and with regular tires (275/35/19) and around -1.5* of negative camber I would not want to go any lower in offset.

The 8.5" front with the +22 would be close. I really think the ideal "normal" offsets are around +30 on a 8.5" front, and +40 on a 9.5" rear. To go more aggressive, you really need to run more negative camber and/or stretch the tires....

Thanks, guys. I certainly don't want to have negative camber or even use stretched tires. On that note, i did find at least two sets that i can live with and will fit over the brakes, just have to make up my mind before either is sold.

I meant it will poke if you run normal tires and camber settings.

im now running 17x8.5 24mm offset fronts and 17x9.5 38mm offset rear with only a few mm difference. but the tires make it appear perfectly flush

Not sure how much help this is since I'm a first gen.

19 x 8.5 +15 / 19 x 9.5 +20

Its out of focus on this pic, but you can see that the rear wheel defintiely pokes a bit.

You'll be fine with +20 on 8.5 and 9.5.

No rubbing cuz your tires are stretched. What size tires are they?

I personally don't like stretched look as much as meaty look on tires
as well as some other factors such as interference with the VDC.
