DIY: Powered Ipod/iPhone Cable (Hidden)
I have wanted to do this for sometime to power my ipods and iphone as well as play the ipod without taken up all the space of my center console. I actually only took an hour to do even though it looks much worse.
Finished product:
How to do:
1) Start by unscrewing manual shifter (careful not to lose metal ring at the bottom)
2) Use a rag and flat heat to pop up silver lining
3) There are clips here just lift up gently and pull out, all the way to where my fingers are will come off
4) Unplug (all connections are unique, so don't worry about remember what went where)
5) Remove rubber around e-brake (will pop out with flat head and cloth)
6) Unplug
7) Unplug (located to the upper left of previous photo)
8) Unscrew and remove 2 screws
9) Use flat head and cloth to pop out
10) Use screw and remove all 4 screws
11) Remove ashtray by depressing silver tab
12) 4 clips hold panel, pull with hand to pop off
13) Unscrew 2 screws to remove main panel
14) You can now remove your enter console. Gently lift rear of console up and gentle pull back. Then lift up off e-brake.
15) I used dremel tool to carve this divit (there are 2 screw to remove this piece and 2 screw to remove the video plugs *sorry didn't take picture*)
16) Place back in center console to make sure it's not pinched
17) use green wire for power, black wire for ground that are attached to the cigerette liighter looking AC plug.
18) Attached the power line and ground wire
19) Plug in ipod cable/video cables and tuck in the side by the power adapter. I used a piece of metal and screwed in to block 3 holes where video plugs were. (see above picture)
20) Install everything back and looks like this with MUCH more free space and a connection to power your ipod and iphone
If you live in OC let me know and I'll help you out. If not pm me and I'll walk you through the parts I forgot to take pictures of. For the 6MT guys will appreciate the extra space in the center console!!! Now I just need to get the KP Nav install done!

Consider yourself lucky
I think you got lucky. It seems like everyone else has the same difficulty removing their *****. That's okay, so far I haven't seen a **** I want more than my OEM. (Apart from the m45 sport ****, though I still haven't found the equivalent black leather/white stitched **** for the 6mt)

looks great... but i was wondering, where do you put your ipod if not in the console? i don't really wanna leave it out in plain sight..
also, as a side note, does anyone have the new 120 gig classic ipod and know if it charges? i know people have been having problems with various ones.. i searched the threads and didn't find anyone posting information on it.. my 1st gen nano works great.. but i'd like to have more music available..
