Any local sedans willing to let me rent your tail lights for a few days?

I am thinking about having my tails painted but I need my car to drive every day. Does anyone in the Phoenix area have a sedan that they don't drive all the time who would be willing to let me borrow or rent your tail lights for a few days?

how about just getting something legal from the local car parts shops?
theres LED lights you can use just to be legal while yours get worked on.
they cant be too expensive.

That won't work on the G without some modification. The G uses a single CAN bus wire for parking and brake lights. I don't have a way to interperate that signal and run a relay to turn on a normal LED or standard bulb. The turn signal is a separate 12v signal so that would be ok. I would much rather just find time where I don't need my car or borrow someone else's tails for a couple days.

OK, show me how simple it is... Show me an easy way to make another light work on the CAN bus signal from the BCM. I have tried to use it to make a relay control another light with no luck.

I'm not sure what there is to figure out. Do you have an O-scope and a way to build an IC to interpret the signal and drive another set of lights? They would also require relays with their own power. Believe me, I'm an Aerospace engineer, I have put some thought to this and it's not worth doing.

OK back to the first post. Anyone have a set of tails I could borrow for a few days sometime?

I'm sure at this point he might not mind shipping them if you don't.
