i trying to understand offsets and what would fit and not fit.

i currently have the stock oem 19s on my 06G35Coupe

Front: 19"x8" +30mm offset
Rear: 19"x8.5" +33mm offset

Everything is bone stock.

1) The oem 19 wheels are not completely flushed. Assuming if one wants them to be flushed, what kind of spaces are needed in front and rears ? (more so for the rears)

2) i am looking to get 18" wheels.
What ranges of offset would allow the wheels to look good and decent (wheels can be flushed or just slightly in the wheel well but not deep inside the well )

IF the width depth is 8" , applying the same logic
will +30mm offsets work for 18"x8" for front and +33mm offsets work for rear ??

what if the manufacturer only have offsets that are +35mm, does that mean the front wheel will be stick out 5mm more for the front (Compared to the stock 19oem) and 2mm more for the rear (compared to the stock 19oem) ?

3) What if the width is 8.5" deep,
then what kind of offsets would work for wheels?
can i apply the same logic based on the OEM19 wheels and say that the offset should hover around +33mm

4) similarly, if the width goes to 9", what kind of offsets would work then?

many thanks

Ok here goes:

05 G35 sedan lowered 1" all round on z suspension.

1. Looking at a set of wheels 20x9 +37F 20x10 +48R. Will the fronts hit front suspension cutoff given there is approx only 4mm clearance between tire and strut? Fronts currently running -1.5 camber approx.

2. Best tyre combo front and rear maintaining factory OD?

Thks in advance!

on stock suspension (with possible 1" drop in the future) on the OEM 19" wheels, how wide can I go in the front and rear without worrying about rubbing? I'm thinking about running a 275/35-19 in the rear, but I have a feeling that that's pushing it for an 8.5" wide rim, so I may end up going with either a 255/40 or 265/40(maybe 35) and a 235/40 in the front.

I wouldn't do 275 on an 8.5 inch rim. Unless you have large spacers, you will be no where near rubbing.

Yes that will fit, there are some black ones for sale with the same offset pm freddie07 his also clear Brembo's. I believe that he R front disk and O rear.

You will need to roll your rears, but you will not be slammed so not to much to worry about.

To answer some of your questions, anything in the +25 or more offset on a couple will be some sunken battleship offsets. The offset is going to be determined by a few things, first pick a diameter which you are looking at 18's. Next pick a style of wheel (This will narrow you down to what they offer as far as widths and offsets that are not custom orders) Also if you have Brembo's or would like to run a BBK in the future this will need to be accounted for.

But to answer your question no +35's is a terrible number for a coupe. Your logic is backwards the higher this number is in the + range the more sunken it will be. Start looking in the +15 range from what you described to me.

alright ill try out this one

1. should be about 20mm spacers up front and 25mm in rear

2. as for the 18s its the same thing as above, what you want to look for is the width of the wheel so lets say a 19x8 +30 and 18x8 +30 is the same thing, so 18x8 +30 and 18x8 +33 is the same as the coupe 19s

for offsets you need to know that the LOWER the number the MORE it sticks out, so the 35 will stick IN 5mm MORE than a 30

3. 8.5 +33 is what you have in the rear and will stick out the same, regardless if its 18 or 19, so basically you need an offset lower than 30 and even lower than 20 to be flush on stock height

4. well when i used an offset calculator to see the different between a
8" +30 and 9"30, the 9" +30 stuck out 13mm more, i would suggest using an offset calculator or the math, either one is simple

i would also suggest checking out different members rides to see what they have done

here is an example

here is xx7sephiroth7xx's g

and comparison to stock

and i believe he is on 20/25 from what i remember

25mm front and rear

Depends on wheel width to give a specific or range of offsets. For example say you wanna run a 9/10" set up i'd run +10-15 so be pretty flush

IF the width depth is 8" , applying the same logic
will +30mm offsets work for 18"x8" for front and +33mm offsets work for rear ??
assuming that, your wheels would sit same as stock

what if the manufacturer only have offsets that are +35mm, does that mean the front wheel will be stick out 5mm more for the front (Compared to the stock 19oem) and 2mm more for the rear (compared to the stock 19oem) ?

No, it's opposite the closer you move towards 0 the further out the wheels is gonna mount, a +35 will be more tucked than a +30

3) What if the width is 8.5" deep,
then what kind of offsets would work for wheels?
can i apply the same logic based on the OEM19 wheels and say that the offset should hover around +33mm

Ok, this is where alot of people get lost when trying to find the difference in offsets what you're changing the wheel width. 1"=24.6mm, so 12mm=.5". If you get a wheel 8.5" from 8 you areadding 12 mm to the overall width. Now say you keep the same offsets but your wheels are .5" difference, you will add 6mm to each side of the wheel. Now say you wanna run a wider wheel but you want the wheel to sit exactly the same. For example you have a 8" rim with an offset of +10, and you are getting a 9" wheel, you would ADD 12mm to the previous offset. so you would be at 9" +22, these 2 wheels would sit the same as far as outside clearance, but you would be adding an ince on the inside clearance. Hopefully that helps a lil

4) similarly, if the width goes to 9", what kind of offsets would work then?

many thanks
Hope this helps a lil!

Angry

i had a quick question whats the widest rim i can fit on my 03 coupe i want as much of a lip i can get but the guy at one of the tire shops around here said that the 20x10" rear and 20x8.5 front were to big and wont fit then tells me that i can get a set of rims at a 1000.00 a rim that are 20x12 rear and 20x9.5 front wtf????? can some one clear this up for me
