Painted G35 rims - how do I take it back to stock?
I purchased this G35 the way it is. I'm not a huge fan of the painted black rims and was wondering the process for stripping the paint from the wheels. Is this a long/difficult process? Would it be easier to pay someone? Also, how will this look after I strip the paint? Has anyone done this before?

you just can't strip the paint from the wheels to get back to stock. You have to sand and paint and then clear coat the wheel to a color that is close to stock, or have them powdercoated to a nice silver color. Welcome to the boards! Looks like the previous owner was goin for the murdered out look. Was he/she a member here by chance?

Not sure about the previous owner.
About how much would it cost to have someone else do the work? How much time/how much money would it take for me to do it myself?
I'm just not a fan of the "murdered out" look. Anyone know if I can take the headlights/tail lights back to normal after being blacked out?

id take it to a powercoater and have them strip/blast it off and coat them. ive been told that powdercoating would run around 60-80 per wheel depending on the color. but id just buy a set of 18s or 19s. its not worth the money or time to redue the 17s. as far as the headlights and taillights i would post in the regional forums and see if anyone wants the trade.

Take some good pictures of them, it depends on how they blacked them out. If they are the overlays you can just peel them off like window tint. If they are painted on the outside you may be able to sand the paint off if you are careful but it would probably be easier to just buy a new set and sell those.
