Please Help! Sat Radio Antenna Install Basic Question
 

O.k., I ordered a Sat. Sirius Radio from Grubbs infiniti. They sent me the unit, and an American International Sirius Antenna.

My Sirius radio cuts in and out. It works about 60% of the time. When it's out, it's just out. There seems to be no real rhyme or reason to it. The Grubbs guy thinks its the antenna and sent me another one.

My antenna was on the trunk and then I moved it to the roof.

As I pull out the replacement antenna, I notice that in the instructions, there is some cryptic notations there about removing the green housing surrounding the antenna cord where it plugs in to the Sirius unit.

Could this be what is causing my problem? Am I supposed to completely remove the green plastic part on the antenna cord plug? Or, am I supposed to remove a part of the green plastic part on the antenna cord plug? It's possible that the kids at Circuit City who installed the antenna for me overlooked the instructions and just plugged it in.

Google searches and searches on this forum have been uneventful.
