J's Garage requires a fax of your ID?

I'm in the process of ordering the DDIN kit for my '04 from J's Garage Export. Unfortunately MyNismo or Grubbs does not carry the black verison or I would have ordered it from them.

I received the following instructions from him.

Has anyone been asked for this information before? I'll cancel the order before I provide my ID.

Yes, he asked me for my ID and I provided it. It is an export regulation imposed upon Japan after WWII that companies have to follow if they are not properly setup for exporting. Many smaller companies that don't export (like J's Garage) forgo the hassle of setting up the proper export procedures and instead take the easier route (which includes obtaining legal identifcation of the receipient which has the address on it as well).

Yep did all that and jumped through many hoops to get my black 03 DD finisher. But happy I did it.

did the same thing, however, he also added that I could blank out my important numbers as he only needed for the address. I scanned my address, blank out my license number and sent it via email. Funny you asked that question, I received mine in the mail less than 15 minutes ago. I got to say, I was spektical at first as well....

Did you order everything from him or just the finisher? The A/C controls I think I am going to order within the US... But I need the black finisher from Japan.

At this point, I don't think you can get the a/c controller in the USA from my research and understanding. I brought the finisher from grubbs and the a/c controller from japan. I didn't order the bracket because people said I didn't need it (will see). When I called around a few places, they all said the same thing pretty much, you can't get it in the US and they are all on back order. I orignally ordered all the parts from grubbs, then they sent me an email saying that the part was on back order. It was a quick turn around I must say.

I plan on purchasing the Black finisher from J's Garage and the AC controller from someone local like Performance Nissan (LINK)

That is what I would do. :)

I don't think Performance Nissan sells the finisher in black. ONly in titanium. Which is why i had to buy my black finisher from J's Garage.

You're right, that's why I'm purchasing only the AC controller from Performance Nissan. If something goes wrong with it at least I can deal with the locally.

J's Garage got back to me with no further mention of the ID requirement. :driving: I'll keep ya'll posted.

I also was stuck looking for the Black DD which I was only able to find at J's Garage, but now am considering other options since they originally quoted me $40 for the trim when I was pricing everything (DD, bracket and controller) but later changed the price of the DD up 70% when I said thats all I wanted (cheaper to buy the other pieces here)...and it came to $130 with all the shipping and extras....

All and all it seemed really fishy so I held off. Since its the only place I could find the DD in black I figure I might look into finding and refitting the top pieces of my console with the silver trim. Does anyone know if that can be done and if its price feasible. Did they make compatible silver trim to go from the 03 black console to the silver???

Here is the quote I was given for the Black DDIN finisher and the AC Controller. It comes out to ~$368 total.

you can buy all those parts without having to go through yoshi and paying his commission on parts...i got all my parts from mynismo.com and paid 300 shipped for the ac controller and trim piece

I guess you haven't read this thread but everyone seems to have the a/c controller on backorder and you can't get the finisher in black from any of the US vendors.
