Z2 isn't recognizing XM or Ipod

So i just finished (well not quite finished thats why I'm here) installing a Z2 into the car. Everything works fine, bluetooth, gps, radio, dvd bypass, you name it...

BUT the car will not recognize the XM or Ipod connection. The pioneer headunits have a daisy chain of an Ipbus cable. I have the cable from the output on xm, to the input on the ipod, the output on the ipod, to the back of the head unit.

They are recieving power, and I havent' blown a fuse. I even tried pulling the Ipod outta the mix and just connecting the XM straight to the HU, but still no avail.

Am I missing something?

Are you doing the XM/Nav Traffic install Or the regular XM?

You should have an IP-Bus from the Z2 to the IPod, an IP-Bus cable from the IPod to the port closest to the power connection on the XM Module. If you're using an XM Nav/Traffic, you also must have a data cable from the XM to the Z2.

check your in and out on the IPbus make sure the flow is out from each unit going to the brain box of the Z2

I don't know if the Pioneers have it, but my Kenwood has a reset button. The HU wasn't recognizing some of the inputs, but after I hit the reset button, it did.

Wanted to say thanks guys...

I double checked all my wiring, nothing. Hit all the reset buttons, nothing. Checked positive again, nothing, so I checked my ground, no power when everything was on...

Regrounded it, it fired up.

Wanted to say thanks for the help, that was my first post in these forums.

My girlfriend bought her white 07 coupe last week, I have spent the past two days putting in an Avic-Z2 with all the widgets (xm, bluetooth, Ipod, bypass) then I swapped the catback for a fujitsubo. Hopefully she enjoys everything. I'll post some pictures of soon of her car and mine!

That is exactly why when I did my Z2 install yesterday, EVERY power and ground connection is soldered together onto the main harness going to the radio. No chance of paint or cheesy crimp connectors causing issues.

It makes for quite the long bundle of wires, but it's for the best

Everything was soldered, but I had the negatives on the Ipod adapter and the XM adapter grounded to a bolt under the center console. After I tested it, I extended the grounds and ran them to the main radio harness instead.

Your right, it takes an extra like hour to solder and heat wrap everything, but I know its gonna last this way.

Did someone say "central ground"?
Z2, XM module, Parking Brake Wire, Other wire for bypass, LOC, PAC, factory amp, and factory radio harness ground wire are all soldered and sealed up together :D
