Possible to change the headunit?

Hello Everyone,

I have a coupe on order for Nov 4th. I looked at it over the weekend and of course the center console is just like the sedan. When a car is made with this "one piece / all in one" plastic console piece, how would you change out your headunit if you wanted to? I can see you could take it out and cut along the line where the AC/heat controls would be, but I'm not sure how this would look? Or is Infiniti or some aftermarket company going to make a custom replacement plastic piece? I was gonna add an all-in-one player dvd/cd/screen unit. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just posed the same question. And wow, I just ordered the pearl white coupe. I was hesistant on the white, but I think it will look good when I add Chrome wheels. Back to the q. The stereo in there sucks (i have never been happy with bose). I hoope someone comes with a dash kit to solve this problem. Buit I think the issue will be on how the nav voice system will work.

Guys, If you searched the threads you would have found that the stero and a/c electronics are tied together. You are stuck with the head unit. what most of us are thinking about (some have done it) are replacing the speakers and the amp. The subwoofer esp. sucks.

If you guys can find an importer from japan, there is a basically two different types of consoles they have for their skylines.

They have the base model tat has a din opening and the intergrated one that we have in the US. The only problem is that, the new skyline isn't tat popular over there in japan, so I don't know if they actually sell them.

If you go on the japan website and look at ur base model, its not integrated.

If you have the bose system with the nav u cant change the head unit, i have that problem right now because im installing a system, if u take the stock face out nav wount function correctly and lead to other problems as well, if you plan on changing the head unit, dont get the upgraded bose stereo option as well as the nav....
