Best Place to ground TVNAV2Go?

I just got my TVNav2go setup, currently I have 12 volts coming from my cigarette lighter, and have my ground wires on the cigarette ground as well.

Just wondering if there is a better spot to ground the wires to improve quality?

Thanks

Well, first thing, make sure the cigarette lighter has enough current to power your set-up. Also realize the power wires to the cigarette lighter are light gauge and even though they may be rated for 10A or so, you can get considerable voltage drop across the wiring.

If the cigarette lighter meets your power requirements for your unit, then use both the 12V and GND as your return. This would actually be optimum then going to chassis, as the cigarette +12V / cigarette GND are a wire pair going right back to the battery relays and will have close coupling to each other.

However, if its a entertainment center and has significant power requirements (even if its only 5A), i would strongly recommend running a new power line with its own fuse. Its easy enough to do.

I typically only use the ACC power for a gauge or two, or something down that line.

Its not a quality thing. Its how much available power you have from the cigarette lighter.
