Radio doesn't work after AUX input install
hey guys,
I had bought and installed an after market AUX input that works off the factory deck. It works on a radio frequency...basically removes the factory antenna and you replace it with an after market antenna adapter that will allow you to connect the RCA input box which then converts the RCA to an AUX input. The AUX input jack has a switch attached to it which i connected the power to from the cigarette lighter. The adapter works great with my ipod touch. I cannot change the songs from the deck or steering wheel, it has to be done manually from the ipod. Not a huge deal for the price i paid for the kit. The only downside to this is that all of a sudden, no radio stations come in clear except one station. Every station is nothing but static except the preset station the AUX adapter works off of. The original antenna is still attached to the car, but its just left there to dangle. It goes behind into the dash. I was not sure if i was supposed to remove it or not. I disconnected it from the harness clip and the radio still doesn't work. Any ideas? |
You need some sort of antenna hooked up if you want to get any stations.

how do i go about doing that? do i need another adapter to split the factory antenna with the new adapter i got?

Most modulators like you have have an antenna input in addition to the aux input. When you turn the modulator on, it bypasses the regular antenna input. When you turn it off, it stops modulating the aux input and lets the antenna input through unimpeded.
If you can list the exact model and/or pictures of what you have, it'll help. |
This is what i had purchased and installed. I had to buy an antenna adapter for the stock deck to accommodate that type of radio antenna adapter.

Looks like you need an Nissan Diversity antenna adapter (http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/206) to plug the stock antenna into the modulator.

Would this piece be used in sync with the the FM module i had purchased?

Yep.
The part circled in red is what connects to the Nissan Diversity antenna adapter, which you plug the factory antenna into. The green part connects into the reverse adapter and into the head unit, as I believe you already have done. Factory Antenna -> Diversity Adapter -> Modulator -> Reverse Adapter -> Head Unit |
thank for the help! I already purchased this!
