Just tapped into the cars steering harness and it's still not working!!

SAMzG35 Jan 7, 2012 12:38 PM

which steering wheel harness do you have

AARONHL Jan 7, 2012 12:54 PM

AXXESS ASWC

First set of blinks: 3short 1long 3short (Meaning the gray/red isn't connected, which it clearly is)

Second set of blinks: 7short (I don't have an Alpine, my Pioneer 4300 hasn't detected the SWC.)

AARONHL Jan 7, 2012 01:13 PM

I connected the 3.5mm plug to the "AUX" on the Pioneer, so it should be in the right spot.

AARONHL Jan 7, 2012 01:22 PM

I AM AN IDIOT (CONNECTED TO THE WRONG PLUG ON PIONEER) Thanks guys!!!!

SAMzG35 Jan 7, 2012 01:25 PM

AARONHL Jan 7, 2012 03:08 PM

Hahahaha, so now it's a really tight fit to mount the JDM kit on the Pioneer!

SAMzG35 Jan 7, 2012 04:42 PM

thanks for the picture! helps alot
so did it fit fine? and glad to see you didnt have to remove the shifter, i was kinda worried about taking that out

AARONHL Jan 8, 2012 11:05 PM

Make sure you put a towel over the shifter trim, that way you can lay the head unit console onto it when plugging everything in. Everything fit fine, definitely enough room. You don't want to have wires or plugs above the the plastic/metal bracket (seen where the antenna adapter hangs off in the picture above) and all the way to the plastic wall. There was actually a lot more room than I thought there would be once I put everything in the lower left.

SAMzG35 Jan 9, 2012 01:48 AM

awesome! are you using Metra or JDM kit?

AARONHL Jan 9, 2012 02:08 AM

JDM

My Pioneer 4300 mounts into the dash kit with a 1/4" gap at the top and sticks out about 3/8" from the face of the dash kit. Doesn't look as good as I wanted it to look, but I'm not going to complain..

Still can't figure out how to dim the brightness...it's so bright at night!!!!!!!!!

SAMzG35 Jan 9, 2012 02:13 AM

have you tried using the trim that he mentioned on page one of this thread?
