Its not that Im afraid to cut wires, I just dont like to :-P Ive installed many headunits before, but this is the first one Ive done with a factory amp, especially Bose. Just wanted to be clear on everything before all my parts arrived this week and I ripped the dash apart again. I bought for the steering controls rather than the one you suggested. Figured Id give it a shot and see how it works.

Actually, as of a few weeks ago, that is the one I've suggested for steering wheel controls, for all but very few headunits.

Hi, can you please post the connection and pins to the NAV voice mod again? I'm redoing in mine and would like to verify the Voltages, relay types, etc. Hopefully it will help the rest of the members on the forums.

Thanks,
Kev

Edit: Found it on the other thread, will try and it and see :)

Be sure to take pictures and video of it working.

My shopping list for a 2003 G35 Coupe with nav,
I got
- PIONEER AVH-P3200BT BLUETOOTH NAV READY 5.8" RECEIVER
- PAC ROEM-NIS2 Nissan/Bose Radio Replacement Interface 1
- METRA AXXESS ASWC UNIVERSAL OEM STEERING WHEEL CONTROL
- JDM INFINITI G35 DOUBLE DIN AC CONVERSION KIT 03-04 DVD

It would really be upsetting to not have everything ready before I rip the dash apart, did I miss anything?
Thanks

You will also need a radio antenna adapter (Metra 40-NI10).

Wrathernaut Jan 7, 2011 12:49 PM

^ good catch.

Depending on where you buy the stereo, they'll include the antenna adapter for free - crutchfield.com and sonicelectronix.com both do this. I'm not sure what others do.

Parking brake wire?

Great thread, thanks for posting, Wrathernaut!

I plan on installing the Pioneer AVIC-U310BT I got for Christmas (once the weather warms up a bit). I did a quick reading of the install instructions that came with the unit and noticed that I have a wire that needs to tap into the parking brake circuit or some of the nav functions won't work. I have a 2004 G35 Coupe with auto trans. Any advice on making this connection? Thanks.

I just ordered them also. Thank you!

Well I got all my parts and finally got the unit installed. Had some trouble as it seemed the ground from the factory harness was faulty so I just made a new one. Had a little bit of trouble trying to decipher the Axxess ASWC book but I found a post by a previous user that you commented on with the documentation I was trying to find on their website and got that working. While installing and testing I lost power for some reason and that took me forever as I was testing the fuse labeled "Battery Audio 15A" on the driver side, I finally figured out that it was under the hood, forgot that box was there as Ive never had to change fuses in this particular car. Once I realized that fuse was blown, replaced it and like magic I had power again. Finally got the ASWC programmed, all the wires in place, and shoved into a nice spot in the dash and everything reassembled. Attached is an image of my installation. Thanks for your help when I needed it! Great thread!

I'd recommend bypassing that part so that passengers can add destinations as you go. avic411.com has the info on how to do it.

That unit though... it's kind of a mixed bag. It boots fast, bluetooth is good, and nav is good, but the POIs in its database is pathetic, so unless you get add-on POIs, you won't even know where to find food or gas with it.

MarkDC Jan 9, 2011 05:41 PM

Thanks for the web site. Really helpful. Seems like there is an update to the POIs, so I'll see what version I have after the install and see if I need the update. Thanks again! I'll probably have more questions as I do the install. You rock! :JAMIN:
